Dear Walla Walla Catholic School families,
The end of the school year is quickly approaching! We are finishing up a fun-filled Spring Spirit week, and we look forward to bringing that spirit with us to the basketball game on Friday! This will be our first home basketball game since February of 2020, so we hope to see plenty of fans in the gym!
Over the next few weeks, keep an eye on our WWCS Facebook and Instagram pages for a series of "Senior Shout Outs", highlighting the awesome students in our class of 2021 who will be graduating in June! Also, in the next newsletter we will be releasing a detailed schedule of events for these final weeks of the school year, so look for that as well.
Note Regarding COVID-19 Vaccine
The Washington State Department of Health as of today has expanded eligibility for the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine to all people 12 years and older. If you are interested in signing up or signing your child up to receive the vaccine, please visit the DOH Vaccine Locator Website. Note that children under the age of 18 cannot receive the vaccine without parental consent.
In accordance with the Vatican Congregation for the Doctrine of Faith and with Bishop Daly, we at the WWCS believe that the reception of the vaccine is in agreement with Catholic moral teaching. However, we are not requiring students to be vaccinated. We believe that the decision to vaccinate children is best made by parents, and we respect our parents' choices regarding the health and well-being of their family.

Latest Athletics Update
Game time is almost here! The DeSales Irish basketball teams will play their first home games since February 2020 on Friday, May 15. We look forward to seeing lots of fans at our events! We have some updates to the 2021 basketball schedule, so take a look at the latest version by clicking the button.
We also have some updates regarding our COVID-19 guidelines to ensure that we have a successful season. At this time we will be not be limiting fan attendance at home games due to the 400 fan capacity at our gym. However, to allow for an open setting for all fans to come it is vital that we do the following:
- Health Screening for each fan on entry
- Masks must be worn by fans and players
- No concessions or gate fee for home events. We will have a donation jar to help offset some of the officials costs.
At this time, Touchet is the only location that will have a fan attendance limit, and that limit is two fans per player. Coaches will work with players and parents when creating that list.

Volunteer Opportunity in June
If you still have volunteer hours to contribute for this year, consider helping us spruce up our school by painting some classrooms June 22 – June 26! We will be painting from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, so you are welcome to come for one hour or even for the whole day!. We won’t have a problem social distancing. We are hoping to be able to paint 5 classrooms at each school this year – come join the fun!
If you are interested in getting involved with this painting project, contact Brittany Phillips, our lead custodian. In your email, let Brittany know what days/hours you are available, and she will get you on the schedule!
Purchase Some WWCS Scrip!
Spring time is graduation time, and Scrip cards make excellent graduation gifts! By placing your order early you eliminate the scramble and you get just the amount you need!
To purchase WWCS Scrip, email the WWCS business office with the card value, quantity of cards, and the date by which you need them. We’ll take care of the rest!
We place orders every Tuesday at 8:00 AM for Friday delivery.
WWCS Holy Hour
Wednesdays at 4:00 PM - St. Patrick Church
The WWCS Wednesday Holy Hour has now moved to St. Patrick Church at 4:00 PM. Even though this remains a Walla Walla Catholic Schools event, it is still open to the community and we hope that you will join us in prayer!
