The U.S. Supreme Court agreed to take on a Mississippi abortion case that observers say could overturn the infamous Roe v. Wade decision.
How likely is that and what issues are at stake? Mississippi's law protects unborn children at 15 weeks. The case is the first abortion case that will be heard by a court that includes Justice Amy Coney Barrett. Justices will consider whether states are allowed to regulate abortion on children not yet considered viable. The decision could transform abortion laws across the country -- protecting millions of mothers, and saving millions of lives. (Photo Credit Catholic News Service)
We are in the midst of Laudato Si Week, May 16-25. The week wraps up an entire year dedicated to Pope Francis' 2015 encyclical letter on the environment, the first ever dedicated entirely to that topic, and its dramatic call to hear “the cry of the Earth and the cry of the poor.” The week will end with the announcement of a seven-year action plan, according to a top Vatican official.

the petition. The
Hyde Amendment and similar laws have protected taxpayers from funding elective abortion for 45 years. If Hyde falls, billions of dollars could go to paying for abortion, according to the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops' Secretariat for Pro-Life Activities.
