Planning for Next Year
Both Assumption and DeSales staff have been meeting for planning sessions regarding next school year. The planning has focused on continuing the things we do well for our students and families, identifying areas in which we can improve, and developing foundational frameworks in the following categories:
Scheduling
Academic Expectations
Instructional Expectations
Behavioral Expectations
School Environment and Culture
Student life and Activities
The projected Advanced Placement teachers at DeSales have been meeting with the projected students in AP classes to review expectations for any summer work and classes next year.
DeSales teachers have also completed new syllabi for their classes next year which will be placed on our website within the next few weeks.
Accreditation Changes
Next year, both Assumption and DeSales will be moving to pilot a K-12 accreditation program through Western Catholic Education Association. Previously, our schools have completed a separate accreditation process at different times. The move to the K-12 accreditation program aligns us more closely with the united mission and vision of our WWCS system. The process will also pilot the use of the National Standards and Benchmarks for Effective Catholic Elementary and Secondary Schools (NSBECS). This will include an evaluative and reflective process for our staff and school community during the 2021-2022 School year.
Our work over the next year will lead to the development of a school improvement plan. During the spring of 2023 there will be a formal visit by a team of Catholic School Educators and Administrators. This team will review our plan and the work we have accomplished, while also experiencing our school community over a 3-day period. We are excited to begin this process as an opportunity to continue enhancing WWCS.
