ECyD is an international Catholic association of adolescents who make a pledge of friendship with Christ and with each other to build up a new world according to the Gospel. It is part of the Regnum Christi family. So ECyD team leaders(usually high school boys and girls) are called to lead a team of younger peers at ECyD programs like Conquest or Challenge clubs, retreats, and summer camps.
Thirty-one high school boys and girls attended our ECyD team leader training on September 8-10 at Camp River Ridge. These young men and women are ECyD members and also team leaders for the Conquest and Challenge clubs, and boys and girls retreats and camps in the Ohio Valley. Their training consisted of experiencing ECyD as an organization they belong to that inspires them to live a deep friendship with Christ and desire to be his apostle. Each group of teens prepared an activity that helped the rest of the group experience ECyD life. The activity themes were: Love for Christ, Love for Mary,Love for the Pope and the Church, Love for souls and Love for ECyD. Living these ECyD experiences together, they are ready to bring this same spirit back to the clubs they lead.
The weekend training helped our team leaders understand ECyD better and make their teams a place of true friendship where boys and girls will grow in faith. The weekend was a true experience of communion between the Legionaries, Consecrated Women, young adult Regnum Christi members.
