Corpus Christi (Body and Blood of Christ) is a Eucharistic solemnity, or better, the solemn commemoration of the institution of that sacrament. It is, moreover, the Church's official act of homage and gratitude to Christ, who by instituting the Holy Eucharist gave to the Church her greatest treasure. Holy Thursday, assuredly, marks the anniversary of the institution, but the commemoration of the Lord's passion that very night suppresses the rejoicing proper to the occasion. Today's observance, therefore, accents the joyous aspect of Holy Thursday.
Corpus Christi Procession - THIS SUNDAY
Join us for a solemn procession in celebration of the Solemnity of the Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ. Silent adoration will begin in the Church immediately following the 11:30 am Mass. Around 12:45, clergy will lead a procession through the narthex, outside, and around the property to the grotto and then back into the church. Benediction will take place in the church following the procession. This joyous celebration will unite our Catholic community as we publicly express our faith in the Body and Blood, Soul and Divinity of our Lord Jesus Christ.
