Starting this Wednesday, June 9th, we will come together on Wednesday Evenings for a more casual worship service in the Hopkins UMC sanctuary at 6:30pm. The service will focus around the same scripture, sermon, and prayers as Sunday morning, but will bring in some different music options. We also expect that the service will be a bit shorter than Sunday morning. For those who are unable to worship in person, we will share this service live over Zoom.

Thursday June 10th, 6:30-8:30pm on Zoom at our church link. 

Hosted by the Greater Southwest District UMW, Guest Speakers: Marchelle (Micki) Phelps (NC Jurisdiction UMW President) and Sharon Appling (Retired Principal for Detroit Public Schools). 

Pastor Kelsey is working on making a space and time for Hopkins youth to have a safe and accepting place to hang-out, build community, and have fun. Details are still being cemented alongside community leaders and interested parents. We will be accepting donations of snacks and drinks to make the space more hospitable. If this is a group in Hopkins that has been on your heart, Kelsey would love your help making this a reality, let her know you’re interested! 

July 4th is quite the exciting day in Hopkins! The town has a lot of fun planned including a community wide worship service. We will not be holding our own worship service that Sunday so we can join together with the greater Body of Christ in Hopkins for this chance to worship together. 

After the service, our church will be hosting a booth in the park to spread the word about our church, our upcoming events, and important programs. We will need some volunteers to be present at the booth and share in hospitality. A physical sign-up will be at church on Sundays and Wednesdays and will go out digitally closer to the 4th. Please consider helping out, it is a great way for our church to connect into our community. 

The Ad Board is in need of a recording Secretary. The Secretary is responsible for being at meetings and writing down what happens, typing it up and submitting them to be printed for the next meeting. If you have been thinking about wanting to step up into a leadership role, this is a great foot in the door!

The needs right now are:  macaroni & cheese, potatoes, pasta, and canned fruit. Drop off Wednesedays from 10am to 1pm and 5pm to 7pm. Bring them to church or contact Mitzi or Pastor Linda about a drop off time.
