A Word From Your Pastor
1. On behalf of all of us in the parish office, I want to wish all the Fathers of our parish a very grand day. Of course, we will pray for all of you, along with our own fathers, living and deceased.
A Blessing for Fathers (from the Archdiocese of Chicago, 2002)
We thank you God for the gift of our fathers, grandfathers, godfathers and fathers-in-law, too. Send your Holy Spirit upon our fathers, in whose laps we were cradled, on whose knees we were bounced, by whose hands we were fed, instructed, at times corrected, in whose company we learned to work and play and pray, at whose side we hear your word and celebrate your mysteries. Heal their pains and disappointments. Forgive all that needs to be forgiven. Give to them the good that they have given to others. Welcome into your arms those who have died. Fill this world, O God, with a father’s love. We ask this through your Son Jesus Christ who taught us to pray to you as Abba. He lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, who is Father of the poor, one God forever and ever. Amen
2. We continue to make good progress on the 2021 Bishop’s Annual Appeal. Our total, as of last Tuesday is $204,000. This is a remarkable amount in the year “of the plague”. This means we will be able to continue to pay down on our debt, which we are close to eliminating. It will also give us a cushion for any unexpected needs. Thanks so much to all who participated or prayed for our efforts.
3. We continue to experience the return of parishioners to worship with us at the Church and again urge those at home to come home to our parish. We will continue to broadcast the Mass online until the end of July. We miss you so much.
4. Finally, I want to extend my deepest appreciation to Zachary Ratliff, our Youth Minister, who has left us this week to pursue another career. He has served us well, faithfully, and joyfully for the last two years. I (we) will miss him very much. He with his wife, Maya, have just purchased a home, are expecting a baby, and now begins a new job. May our good Lord bless them both into the future!
God bless,
Msgr Enke
