Respect Life
Eighth and Ninth Months (size: about 18 inches) In the last two months the baby continues to gain weight. She is developing a layer of fat that will keep her warm after birth. In the 9th month she will shift to a head-down position, preparing for birth. Her lungs are now fully developed and capable of making the transition to breathing air. After birth she will continue the human growth process for approximately the next 80 years.
Let’s PRAY: Each week, we pray for a group of elected officials without including titles, states or party affiliation so we remember they are our brothers and sisters, children of God, sinners like us. This week, add these names to your prayers: Madeleine Dean, Roger Williams, Gregorio Kilili Camacho Sablan, G.K. Butterfield, Bill Pascrell, Robert J. Wittman, Beth Van Duyne, Carolyn B. Maloney, Alcee Hastings, Ronny L. Jackson, Peter Stauber, Teresa Leger Fernandez, Mike Gallagher, Gerald Edward Connolly, Rick Allen, Terri Sewell and Jenniffer Gonzalez-Colon. Add also your local and state representatives. Pray they will submit to God’s holy will.
Fatherhood is celebrated during the month of June. With this year being the Year of St. Joseph, we could say Fatherhood is being highlighted all year long. The life of St. Joseph demonstrates the ideal model for men and the nature of fatherhood within them. Just as Mary became “the handmaid of the Lord,” Joseph submitted and obeyed to protect and serve Mary and Jesus. Lift up the men in your life through prayer and generosity.

June 19th is an Important Day - As Catholics, we strive to nurture faith in action for peace and justice for all people through prayer, education, and social action. Join us in prayer for peace and justice on Juneteenth. The Office of Black Catholics invites all of us in the Archdiocese of Baltimore to celebrate this day as a reminder of the transformative power of human liberation. We encourage all to spend time with our families, reflecting on the meaning of the day by using this as a day of education about our collective history and taking the time to pray for real change.
