Cardinal Gregory announced earlier this month that the dispensation of the Sunday and Holy Day Mass obligation will be lifted on Saturday, June 26, and Sunday, June 27, 2021. I welcome back to Mass those who have not been in-person since we were shut down by COVID. I encourage full participation in the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass and the Holy Eucharist. This obligation does not apply to those who are ill; those who have reason to believe that they were exposed to the coronavirus or another serious or contagious illness.
I wanted to invite you to a talk by Martin Begley, our Summer Seminarian, tomorrow evening – Wednesday, June 16, at 7:00 p.m. in Whitemarsh Hall. Come hear about rediscovering your love for our faith! So many times we can become complacent in our lives, even in our faith. You won’t want to miss this special talk.
I would like to send a huge thank you to all the many volunteers who aided with disinfecting and cleaning the church after each Mass during this past year. Also thank you to the ushers who helped parishioners before, during and after Mass. This weekend, we will have the ushers taking up the collection. The Poor Box will return to be the repository for funds intended to serve the poor in our community.
It’s so wonderful to have the altar servers back with me on the altar. We are currently training new servers who will soon be joining the ranks of our outstanding altar servers. Please keep these young boys and their families in your prayers. I am also happy to have our lectors, musicians and cantors back in full swing.
Peace,
Father Potts
