Covid Changes:
Welcome Back
Over the last fifteen months, in the face of the coronavirus pandemic, we have adapted the ways we lived our daily lives, as well as the ways we worshiped as a Church. As restrictions are lifted and parishes more fully reopen, our priority, as it has been throughout this pandemic, is to continue to practice our faith while keeping people safe.
As Oregon opens up to 100 %, in alignment with the Governor and OHAs changes in mandates, the Archbishop has approved the following recommendations effective June 30th. Implementation of these guidelines is left to the prudential judgment of the pastor.
General Principles
1.All indoor liturgical celebrations and faith gatherings are allowed to take place without capacity limitations, and social distancing.
2.Masks may be worn but are not required.
Liturgical Practices
All previous liturgical restrictions are lifted, except for the following:
1. The Precious Blood will not be offered to the faithful.
2. The Sign of Peace will not be exchanged through physical contact.
Cleaning
Cleaning after Masses and gatherings: We will do a thorough pew cleaning once weekly and provide at all entrances wipes for those to take if you would like to wipe your spot as you sit down.
Ventilation
We will continue with air exchange ventilation.
Livestreaming of Mass: Will continue streaming daily Mass, and one Mass each weekend for those who are unable to attend due to health concerns.
Dispensation from the Obligation to attend Mass
Effective Friday, July 16, 2021, Archbishop Sample rescinds the dispensation from the obligation to attend Holy Mass on Sundays and holy days of obligation. Canon Law still allows those who are vulnerable, sick, or who have other grave reasons, to miss Holy Mass if necessary. Those unable to attend the Sunday Eucharist for such reasons are asked to honor the Lord in another way that day by watching a livestreamed Mass, praying the rosary, reading sacred Scripture, or otherwise setting aside time to be with the Lord.
Our hope and prayer is we will also be welcoming our entire parish community back into the Church. The doors both front and side to church will be back to normal and will be open on the weekends before Mass. With all pews available, we should have plenty of room without Satellite seating.
Confessions will go back to our pre-pandemic locations at normal scheduled times.
Our sincere thanks and gratitude to all of you who have so graciously and generously served in our greeter/usher/reader/videography roles since the beginning of the pandemic. Your commitment and service by greeting, welcoming, reading, providing videography, ushering people to Mass during Covid and sanitizing after Mass has truly been invaluable. Your fellow parishioners and community have been able to get to know us in a more personal way, while facilitating their opportunity to receive Christ in the Eucharist every week! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!
Thank you, all St. Rose Parishioners and Visitors, for being part of our community, as we learn to know, love, and serve our God and Neighbor in ever deeper ways.
