Welcome to 2021-2022
Summer is definitely in full swing now as we round the corner on the half way point to our return to school. Moving into July signifies the new school year for all things related to St. Matthew and boy are we ready to welcome back almost 200 Jaguars in junior kindergarten through fifth grade.
Fun fact: did you know that an enrollment of 200 would put St. Matthew up over 50 students in the last four years!
Included in this communication is some important information as it relates to the 2021-2022 school year. We will continually push information in the coming weeks as registration and the new school year approaches. You will find the following key updates in this communication:

Capital Campaign Prayer
There are many great things to come this school year and included in that list is the work that is being done on the leading edge of a major capital campaign that will provide improvements all across this campus, from the Church, to the ECC, and the school. Some of the proposed updates to the school include:
- New cafeteria space
- Addition of 3 more classroom spaces (to handle growing enrollment)
- Transformation of locker rooms into meeting spaces and a staff bathroom
- Elevator for the current 3 levels of building space being used
- Enhanced main entrance security
As we kick off this initiative, we would like your students help in writing a prayer that will be voted on and used throughout the campaign. There is no requirements on length of content for the prayer, let the creative minds work.
Email all prayers to Mrs. Conlon at aconlon@stmatthewcr.org by Friday, July 30th.
STEP 1: New
TIME-TALENT-TREASURE Initiative
As a community of faith, St. Matthew operates most efficiently and effectively with the assistance of those for whom we serve, that is our students, you our parents/guardians, and our community members. We are asking for your partnership in this new endeavor to create 100% engagement between students-teachers-parent/guardian.

STEP 2: Update to Dress Code Policy
In an effort to provide a bit more consistency and remove the uncertainties during the colder months, there is ONE change to the 2021-2022 dress code policy that is outlined below.
The full dress code policy and the link to shop for these items (and all St. Matthew gear) have been included below. Feel free to start shopping, the web store is open and the first deadline to order is Sunday, August 1st. As always, please reach out with any questions.
STEPS 3 and 4: Review Code of Conduct and Parent/Student Handbook
There are two very important documents attached to this section. The first is the new St. Matthew Code of Conduct; it is imperative that as a school community we are transparent about all of the roles and expectations of each and every member of our community, regardless of the role we play in each child's life. This document will communicate the expectations placed upon all who are a part of the Jaguar community. This will be signed this fall and kept on file.
The other document attached is the updated 2021-2022 parent/student handbook. I ask that you draw your attention to the discipline code, starting on page 15 as there have been some updates to this policy to ensure we have clear procedures in the event of a situation that needs our attention.
Same Faces in New Places
Tami Kolden
Mrs. Kolden won't be moving too far as she will be taking the role of 4 year old preschool teacher. We are thankful for all Tami has done for our 3 year old program and look forward to her continued work in early childhood education.
Trudy Smith
Mrs. Smith is going back to her roots next year and will be teaching 3rd grade with Mrs. Adams. The duo has worked together for many years prior to this and are excited to be back working together.
Emily Worley
Ms. Worley is also making a shift and will be teaching 2nd grade with Ms. Nepola next year. We are excited for her to join the second grade team and assist students with their sacaraments.
Especially For You Race
St. Matthew School will once again have a team for the annual Especially For You Race Against Breast Cancer. If you'd like to be part of the team, please follow the link below to sign up. This year's race will be held on Sunday, October 3, 2021. We'd love to have our biggest team yet, so please consider joining us!
CR SAINTS GIRLS SOFTBALL
CR Saints Softball will be holding tryouts for the 2021 fall through 2022 spring/summer seasons for 8U-12U teams. Join our organization for some FUN and COMPETITIVE softball!!! Online registration begins on June 30, 2021. www.crsaintssoftball.com
