Women's Guild
The time has changed for our Women's Guild meetings hoping to make it more convenient for you. We will now be meeting at 1pm on the 3rd Tuesday of the month. If you want to join us for noon Mass, bring a sack lunch to have after Mass and we can eat and meet!
This month (July 20th) we have a guest speaker who will give us an opportunity to bless the children of our community. Please come and renew old friendships and meet the new ladies who have joined our parish. This month we will be meeting in Room 5 at 1:00pm. Prepare to be blessed and be a blessing!!!

Fasting Before Mass
One who is to receive the Most Holy Eucharist is to abstain from any food or drink with the exception of water and medicine for at least the period of one hour before Holy Communion.
St. Augustine gave this warning: "It has pleased the Holy Ghost that to honor so great a Sacrament the Lord's Body should enter the mouth of the Christian before other food" "Not only does the Eucharistic fast pay due honor to our Divine Redeemer, it fosters piety also; and hence it can help increase in us those most salutary fruits of holiness which Christ, the Source and Author of all, wishes us who are enriched by HIs Grace to bring forth."

Prayer Before Mass
St. Francis is looking for anyone who would be interested in reading the Prayer Before Mass at all the Masses. The prayers are emailed in advance with plenty of time for reading, studying, and contemplating its content. If you feel the Holy Spirit leading you to participate in this ministry, please contact Linda McKnight at adultformation@stfrancisblairsville.com or call the parish office. Meal Request for the Pawli Family
Sarah Pawli, who is a lector at St. Francis of Assisi and wife to Rob, fell in her garage and has a severe break of her shoulder...and a finger. Besides being very painful and inoperable, recovery will be months long. Sarah is a Registered Nurse and has helped many parishioners and friends who have been in need of help over the years.
If you can make a meal and deliver it to Hiawassee, that would be great. If you can make a meal and leave it at the church, someone will get it to Sarah and Rob's home. They are asking for three meals a week. Here is the link to the account.

Meeting for Homebound Ministry
The mission of the Ministry for the Homebound is to connect with our brothers and sisters of the St. Francis faith community who are alone, dealing with illness, dying, or simply restricted to their home, by bringing them the Gospel, the Most Holy Eucharist, and the faith tradition of the Catholic Church.
Anyone interested in participating in this ministry and those currently in the ministry are invited to meet with Fr. Mario in room 5 (conference room) on July 25th at 12:15 p.m.

Backpack 2 School Bash
Along with many churches and organizations in Union County, St. Francis parish will be supporting the 6th annual Backpack 2 School Bash to be held August 7, 2021. The Backpack 2 School Bash provides backpacks and school supplies for Union County K-12 students in need. For our part, St. Francis has signed up to provide GLUE STICKS and POCKET FOLDERS (non pronged). We will be collecting the glue sticks and pocket folders on the weekends of July 3&4, 10&11, and 17&18 after all Masses at the back of the church, Monetary donations will be accepted as well. Not able to donate, but would like to help? Volunteers are also needed during the Bash. Sign up at the table in the vestibule or contact Jeannine Murphy at 706 745-4590. Thank you!!

If you are available, we could use your help on Tuesdays from 9 - 12.00 to help unload, sort, price, pack and store our donated treasures. Again this year, we will NOT be accepting any exercise equipment or furniture except high-value furniture for Silent Auction.
Boxes:
We are in need of small to medium size boxes to sort goods for the festival. If you happen to have boxes you are not using we can take them off your hands!

Spiritual Adoption
Reminder to Pray for your Spiritually Adopted Baby in danger of abortion who is now 6 months in gestation. This blessed child is growing quite beautifully now with weight approaching 2 pounds. Babies born prematurely at this time have a very good chance of surviving. However, even if this sweet child has survived this far along in the womb, he or she is still in danger of abortion right up until birth. During your earthly life, this spiritually adopted child of yours is known only to God, but, in the world to come, it is hoped that you will meet the child whose life was spared by your prayers and spend eternal happiness with him/her. Your prayers will make a difference between life and death for this special child! Please pray for the baby’s parents as well!
Read One Spiritual Book
Summer is a great time to catch up on reading. The days are long and hot and reading is a great way to pass the time. Somewhere in the midst of reading magazines and novels, please find some time to read ONE spiritual book. Below is a list of 5 books to consider. One is a novel. All delve into our faith. Two of them could be read in an afternoon. All of them may be purchased on Amazon for around $15. If you use a kindle or other device, they're even less expensive. The Church library and the local public library may be additional options. Please consider expanding and growing your faith one summer reading book at a time.

Schoenstatt Movement
The Schoenstatt movement is a movement that started in Germany many years ago. Schoenstatt is a movement to bring Our Blessed Mother, Mary Thrice Admirable, into our homes and, as families, pray the Rosary. Mary visits a different home each week. She is in the form of a beautiful icon and is picked up at the church each Sunday to visit another home. Wouldn't we all love to have Our Blessed Mother visit our homes? Lifeteen Youth Group
Lifeteen Youth Group will meet Sunday July 11 from 5-7 for a special night of fun and formation. Bring a friend. If you have not already signed up for Covecrest Summer Camp you may do so Sunday night. Next week Saturday July 17 there will be a swim party. Bring a friend. Modest swim wear will be required.
