It is such a joy to be with you at Holy Spirit Parish! My first week here as the new pastor has been incredible. We have a tremendously warm and welcoming community. It is also a joy to have Msgr. Tom Tank as our senior associate pastor. My first impression of our community rings true with what I have been told over and over again by people outside of the parish: there are amazing families at Holy Spirit! Our Lord has been doing mighty works here over the last 40 years, and I can't wait to see what God has planned for us in the future. I know one thing for sure: God will provide everything we need. As Saint Paul reminds us in the second reading at Mass this weekend, God has "blessed us in Christ with every spiritual blessing in the heavens" (Eph 1:3). Our responsibility is to be passionate, receptive stewards of each and every blessing Our Lord pours out to us. The greatest blessing that God gives us is Himself in the Holy Eucharist. In the Eucharist, we find our true identity and our eternal home. As a parish, we are defined and sustained by the Eucharist. The Eucharist is the hope and strength of each of our families. Our hearts were made for union with God in the Eucharist. Ultimately, we exist to be a community on fire with Eucharistic love at service to the poor and vulnerable. Our mission depends on our reliance on the Eucharist. After the past year, we are all especially aware of how precious it is to gather for Mass. Let us renew our commitment to Our Eucharistic Lord Jesus Christ with all of our hearts.
Come Holy Spirit!
