Welcome to the third edition of the “Biweekly Brief,” a special (less frequent) summer edition of the Weekly 3. While I hope you are enjoying your summer vacation, I also feel that it is important to stay connected over these next few months, as exciting things continue to happen on campus. We will also use this check-in to make sure you are kept aware of any upcoming events or deadlines as we count down the days to the first day of school on Monday, August 30th.

1) 2021-2022 School Supply Lists
What's New: Supply lists for all students (Preschool through 8th grade) are attached below.
Why It's Important: With Independence Day officially in our rearview mirror, and Target having officially switched over their seasonal displays from BBQ sets to back-to-school sales, you are now prepared to take advantage.

2) Faculty & Staff Update
What's New: We are excited to announce that all open positions within the faculty and staff for the 2021-22 academic year have been filled.
Why It's Important: As many of you are aware, at the close of last school year, a few of our faculty and staff members announced their decision to leave Our Lady of Peace. Today, we are happy to announce that after an extensive search and interview process, we have officially extended offers to all open positions. Bringing these new hires onboard in the middle of the summer, allows them adequate time to prepare for the upcoming school year, and ensure they are ready to hit the ground running come August 30th.
What's Next: As soon as we have received formal signatures of acceptance, we will introduce these newest members of Eagle Nation to the broader community. Stay tuned!
3) COVID-19 Vaccine Info
What's New: All members of Eagle Nation (ages 12+) are currently eligible for the COVID-19 vaccine. Our Lady of Peace strongly encourages everyone to take advantage of this important step in helping us continue to stay safe, stay healthy and stay open this coming school year.
Why It's Important: Last year, Eagle Nation stepped up to the challenge and did some pretty remarkable things in order to ensure we had a successful, in-person school year. Whether it was wearing masks, staying home when sick or exposed or simply remembering to wash our hands and keep a proper physical distance, we did what it took to make it happen. The COVID-19 vaccine is the next step in finally putting this pandemic behind us. Plus, students who have proof of vaccination would not be required to quarantine (and move to distance learning) should a close contact occur during the school year.
What's Next: Click the button below to find a vaccination site near you, or simply talk to your pediatrician. Remember, it can take 4-5 weeks from the first dose to ensure maximum effectiveness, so get yours today in order to be ready for the first day of school.
4) Donate your boxes to Eagle Camp
What's New: Eagle Camp is in need of cardboard boxes, and let's face it, your recycle bin is overflowing with them.
Why It's Important: Eagle Camp (OLP's summer program for kids K-8) has been busy this summer with science projects, field trips to the park and more art projects than would ever fit on your mom's refrigerator growing up. Despite the latest advances in technology, cardboard boxes still continue to inspire creativity and imagination in today's kids.
What's Next: If you have cardboard boxes at home, please consider dropping them off at the table inside of door 1W (corner of 11th Ave & 55th St.) by Monday, 7/19.
5) Did somebody say pizza?
What's New: All students entering 6th-9th grade are invited to join us for a night of Food, Faith & Fun in Pates Hall on Wednesday, 7/21 from 6:15-7:30.
Why It's Important: The faith formation team at Our Lady of Peace Church (which teaches religious education classes on Wednesday nights during the school year) is inviting all incoming 6th-9th graders to gather for a night of fun with other youth in our community. Pizza will be served and games will be played during this first of its kind event geared toward making new friends and broadening our church & school community.

6) Last call to order your gala t-shirt
What's New: The deadline to order the coveted gala t-shirt for the upcoming school year is this Sunday, July 18th.
Why It's Important: This t-shirt (and this t-shirt alone) will allow your student(s) to be out-of-uniform on Fridays during the 2021-22 school year. Originally sold at the Annual Spring Gala back in April, we would like to make sure all students (including those newly enrolled) have the opportunity to participate in the fun.
What's Next: Click the link below to order your t-shirt today. Shirts are $25 each, and all proceeds go to benefit the OLP General Operations fund. Shirts will be available for pick-up on back-to-school night, Wednesday, 8/25.
