17th Sunday of Ordinary Time
7/25/21
Dear St. Joseph Parish Family,
I'm excited that our attendance at Sunday Mass is increasing. I've run into a number of people who are new to the city and starting to join us at St. Joseph's, as well as New Yorkers who have started attending Mass at St. Joseph's. Let us welcome our newest members of the parish and help them as they begin their journey at St. Joseph's.
I also have another important piece of news. Fr. Pier Giorgio has been reassigned and will be moving to another parish. He's been here almost 3 1/2 years, which is a standard term for a newly ordained priest, and he will soon serve at our parish in Louisville, St. Louis Bertrand parish. Fr. Clement Dickie OP will be Fr. Pier Giorgio's replacement. They are both great priests and will serve well both here and in Louisville. Fr. Clement will arrive on August 20th, and Fr. Pier Giorgio will head out to Louisville on September 9th. We'll arrange a going away party for Fr. Pier Giorgio, so stay tuned for details.
Also, the new McGuire Hall is coming along. The supply chains are still a mess and progress toward completion has been slower than I'd like. I'm hoping that it will be completed in less than a month. Also, an update on the parish bell. We're working with a bell specialist who will restore the bell to full functionality. Currently, we're waiting on the new control system from Italy. As Europe enters August the whole continent essentially shuts down, so the control system will arrive sometime after August. Once we have the control system we'll repair the bell and get it running again. My hope is that the bell will be ringing again by Fall.
God Bless,
Fr. Boniface
