Dear parishioners,
This weekend we begin praying through the sixth chapter of St. John's Gospel. This will be the focus for the next several weeks. The central point that Jesus highlights throughout this chapter is that He is the Bread of Life. Our God loves us so much that He desires to feed us with His very self. The best way to be fed by Jesus is be present at Mass - His Word is spoken through Sacred Scripture and then through the power of the Holy Spirit, Jesus is made sacramentally present on the altar and then distributed to us so we have grace and strength for the journey.
Please join us this weekend to worship the Lord and receive Him in the Holy Eucharist. Mass times are 4:30pm Saturday and 7:30, 9:30, and 11:30 on Sunday morning. Confessions will be heard Saturday morning at 8:30am and again in the afternoon from 3:15 - 4:00pm.
This weekend the new Spiritual Director at St. Edward's Catholic High School, Fr. Bobby Blood will join us and celebrate the 9:30 Mass and then introduce himself at the other Masses on Sunday morning. We welcome Fr. Blood and are grateful he is close by and part of our community.
St. Mary Gilberts 4:30 Saturday Vigil Mass: After prayer, discernment, logistic observations, and conversations with the Pastoral Council of St. Mary Gilberts, we have decided to discontinue the 4:30pm Saturday Vigil Mass in Gilberts. This Mass was temporarily added a few months ago to accommodate more people when we had more restrictions with attendance at Mass. Those restrictions have been lifted, so as was intended, we are planning to go back to having only the 9:00am Mass at St. Mary Gilbert's on Sunday mornings. The last 4:30 Mass at St. Mary in Gilbert's will be on Saturday July 31st. Thank you for your understanding.
God bless you all,
See you at Mass.
Fr. John
