Dear Members and Friends of St. Anthony of Padua Parish,
Aidan Mensching, a high school junior member of the parish, is organizing Operation Backpack, a collection of school backpacks for the 2021-2022 school year, for the Boys and Girls Clubs of Dorchester. You can learn more about this organization by clicking here. Please see the note from Aidan below.
Fr. Scott
Although it may seem a little early to think about, it is almost back to school season for students across the state.
This past school year was marked with many unprecedented obstacles and I hope this coming year schools can safely return to a greater sense of normalcy and a more regular learning environment. That means many children, especially in areas less fortunate than ours, will re enter their classrooms with old school supplies and in need of new materials.
That is why I have partnered with the Boys and Girls Club in Dorchester to start the Back to School Backpack Drive. With your aid, we can make sure disadvantaged students return to the new school year prepared. And, after speaking with the Boys and Girls Clubs of Dorchester, the age group most in need of these backpacks are ages 6 through 10. However any donations for any age are welcomed.
It is an easy opportunity to assist our brothers and sisters in Dorchester who need our generosity. I ask you to please consider donating a backpack by dropping one off at the parish hall or at any parish Mass over the next 2 weeks. There will be a collection bin near the entrance doors, or inside depending on the weather.
Thank you for generosity in advance, and I cannot wait to see the smiles when I deliver our donations.
Thank you,
Aidan Mensching
