Hello Families of Faith!
This year, our pastoral region will continue our journey of embracing a Family-focused approach to religious education and faith formation. This approach, of which we started last year, is titled Family of Faith. Family of Faith is the ordinary means of religious education for ALL children and parents in each parish of our Eastside Pastoral Region. It is a complete replacement for PREP (Parish Religious Education Program) and is the avenue in which all children in the region, regardless of their parish or if they attend Catholic grade school or not, will prepare for the sacraments of 1st Reconciliation, 1st Communion, and Confirmation
The mission of Family of Faith is rooted in the empowerment and equipping of parents to serve as the primary catechists of their children. This is completed by having one live session per month held at St. Cecilia Parish on the 2nd Sunday of the month where the children are in the classrooms with a parish catechist, and the parents are with our parish leadership team. During the parent lesson, parents are equipped with the tools, knowledge, and confidence to share the Catholic faith with their families using the activities and lessons found in the parent guide.
It is my sincerest hope is that all families within our region with children from 1-18 years of age will come together in these monthly meetings to ignite a flame of love for God in the domestic Church, the Family.
