Dear brothers and sisters in Christ,
This weekend we celebrate the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary! A great Solemnity reminding us that through the merits of Jesus' death on the Cross and His resurrection from the dead, our Blessed Mother Mary was spared from all stain of sin (original and personal) and at the end of her earthly life she journeyed body and soul straight into Heaven. By God's grace, she lived in a state of grace always and everywhere and as a result is eternally rejoicing in God's Kingdom. Now even though none of us are perfect, and that's ok, we can still learn from Our Lady. By cooperating with God's plan in our daily lives, we grow in union with Him. And as we become one with the Lord it prepares us to one day enter into the eternal joys of Heaven united with Mary and all the angels and saints. Amazing!
A reminder that Eucharistic Adoration Signups are this weekend and next. Please stop by our table in the Narthex after Mass to commit one hour with the Lord on either Wednesday or Friday. When we stay close to Jesus in the Holy Eucharist we can be confident that His grace will help us follow the right path in imitation of our Mother Mary.
Youth Ministry will be starting up again in the coming weeks! A big thank you to Deacon Hank and his young adult team for stepping up and helping with this wonderful ministry. The first High School YM event will be a pizza social gathering on Sunday August 22nd from 7:00-8:30.
We are very excited to start the school year this week! Please keep all of our children who are returning back to school, their families and our teachers and staff in your prayers. Thank you!
Have a great week and see you at Mass.
With prayers,
Fr. John
