Sunday Mass Choirs - Returned or Returning Soon
Music during our Catholic liturgies is intended to foster the full, conscious and active participation of all the Church's faithful in public prayer. By joining our hearts and minds together - knowing the mystery we celebrate and to whom we give praise and thanks, we are - in the most concrete and expressive way - announcing our beliefs and demonstrating our common faith.
For the past 1-1/2 years, St. Thomas the Apostle parishioners have missed their weekend choirs. But they are either back or soon will be! They are:
9:30 AM Sunday Mass choir (Acclamation Choir) is still forming and has begun rehearsals in hopes of an October return. Director Julie Huerstel will return to lead this group which served what was the 9:00 AM Mass in our prior Sunday schedule.
11:30 AM Sunday Mass is now the 'home' for the Parish Choir (formerly it served the 10:30 AM Mass). St. Thomas Music Ministry's Music Director Matt Holter is eager to generate yet more interest and encourage additional voices to join. The Parish Choir had a 'soft' startup this past weekend.
5:00 PM Sunday Mass is where you'll enjoy the choir (formerly known exclusively as the Life Teen Choir), under the direction of Tyler Irving; it has been back in service since July 25.
Cantors Juan Aguirre and Vanessa Salaz will continue to lead the congregational singing at other designated weekend Masses as well as occasionally make unscheduled appearances with the Parish Choir.
If you're interested in joining one of the above choirs, there will be information in next week's Flocknote, making it easy to let Matt, Julie and Tyler know!
