St. James Home & School Meeting
Wednesday, November 1, 2017
Attendees: Jason Farmer, Nicole Stoutner, Stacey Chenoweth, Laurie Nichols, Diana Flannery, Rachel Berdo, Anne Goebel, Roberta Stakland.
Diana open the meeting at 6:33 PM.
School Report - Mrs. McBride was unable to attend so Anne Goebel reported as a school board representative. We are no longer using the SuccessMaker program due to technical issues. The school board is forming a committee to find replacement program/technology curriculum. The school board is also reviewing it long term computer plan and looking specifically at the timeline to update the school Mac lab. Reminder that School conferences are coming up. The school board has formed a marketing committee to handle all marketing matters. They are considering doing a present from the school to parishioners at Christmas time this year to help market St. James school ahead of round up and registration time.
Secretary’s Report - The minutes from the August meeting that Sonya sent out via Flocknote were read by Rachel. There were no changes. Stacey Chenoweth, Laurie Nichols, MSC
Treasurer’s Report - Due to technical issues a treasurers report was not available. Anne Goebel made a motion to table the treasurers report until the next meeting. Nicole Stoutner seconded the motion. MSC
Teacher Conference Meals - Home & School volunteers are covering the teacher conference meals on Thursday, November 9th. The Showers, Mitchell, Protacio Marcelino and Ramirez Families are signed up to cover this.
Christmas Program - Rachel made a motion that Home & School continue covering the cost to rent the community center. Stacey seconded the motion. MSC. We are once again collecting a canned food item to donate to HACAP as admission to this event. The Tryon Family & Klein family are signed up to greet and collect the food items. They will need to bring boxes or bags to collect the items in. The Nichols family has volunteered to transport the food collected to KCII to be gathered with the other HACAP food donations.
Fall Food Sales - Fall Food Sales pickup is next Wednesday the 8th. The winners of the top 3 sales prizes are 1. Audrey Smith 2. Ellie Farmer 3. Chenoweth Boys. (In the case of multiple sellers in one family combining their orders, the total items is divided by the number of children). These children will receive their prizes at a “fancy” pizza luncheon in the next few weeks. Overall the fundraiser was a success.
Christmas Teacher Appreciation Luncheon - The Teacher Christmas Luncheon will be held on Wednesday, December 6. Stacey and the Keeler/Heisdorffer families are the chairs. Stacey will contact them to coordinate. Roberta said she could cover the open School Kitchen helper position. Anne motioned to continue with the $200 staff scrip gifts we have done in the past. Stacey seconded. MSC. Rachel will get the invitations ordered and distribute them along with the scrip order forms.
The Big Event - The Big Event will be held on Friday, April 20, 2018. The KC Hall has stated that they are unable to move the bar to the door for our event this year. Due to the size of our event, we believe that the space will be too large if we have the bar area open as well. We discussed and decided to explore other venues for the event. More will be reported at the next meeting.
Our next meeting will be held on Wednesday, January 10, 2018 at 6:30pm. We will discuss Catholic Schools Week and The Big Event.
At 7:57pm Anne moved to adjourn the meeting. Rachel seconded. MSC.
Respectfully submitted,
Rachel Berdo
