It is with mixed emotions that I announce to you the retirement of Mary Hager, our Coordinator of Religious Education. I’m very happy for Mary that she will now have more free time to spend with family, but at the same time, I am very sad to be losing such a crucial member of the Sacred Heart Staff.
Mary has been an awesome team member here at Sacred Heart leading our religious education program for over nine years. Not only did she take charge of developing our youngsters in the CCD program and the logistics for those students making their Sacraments; she also took care of our Senior luncheons, ran the Lenten food drive, and assisted with a myriad of other Sacred Heart activities and events. Mary will continue to be here at Sacred Heart through the 2021 calendar year, as she transitions our new Coordinator of Religious Education, Jessica Ptomey. We welcome Jessica to the Sacred Heart Staff!
With the new CCD school year beginning on Saturday, September 11, the 9:30 a.m. Mass will now be celebrated in the Church and continue to be celebrated in the Church throughout the CCD year.
Lastly, I want to thank everyone who assisted with the Sacred Heart Parish picnic that took place this past Sunday. A huge thank you to Barbara and Greg Franklin, the new chairpersons of the picnic, and to Dufour Woolfley who had chaired the picnic in years past and assisted the Franklins with taking over this event.
All who attended the picnic had a great time! The food was delicious and it was fun watching the children play together, especially the 9-square game. Father Russo and I enjoyed spending time with our parish families.
As we move into a new academic school year, let’s pray for students and teachers that this year can be a time of joyful learning.
Peace,
Father Potts
