NOW, for this week and next! Your kids have done a great job of learning the routines and settling in to school.
Reading: We read a story called "The Trial of Cardigan Jones". With this we learned some new vocabulary such as trial, jury, stand, guilty, innocent...We also worked on long vowel words with a "magic e" at the end, the differences between command, question, exclamation and statement sentences, and reviewed compound words.
Math: We have been working to add 3 and 4-digit numbers with regrouping using different strategies. Next week we will attempt some 3-digit subtraction. These are things that can be practiced at home...give your child numbers to add and let them show you what they can do!
Science: After reviewing seeds and all their different properties we got the chance to plant some seeds in our classroom. The kids found out how stinky seeds can be when they sit in moisture for a week! Needless to say, that experiment is over!
Social Studies: We just introduced our first unit in SS...Migration. Be ready, my favorite thing to do in SS is tell the students to go home and ask Mom and Dad if they know about the things they are learning! The kids are excited to get going on this.
Everyone have a great, relaxing weekend! Don't forget to come eat and bid high at Fall Fest on Sunday! This is the biggest St. James Fundraiser!
GO HAWKS!
