The month of November is bringing a big change to the 4-year old preschool and 2nd grade reading buddies! Mrs. Love-Smith and I have been working on making reading buddies a little more interactive and we are excited! We hope you are too! Since the school year has begun, our classes have met every Tuesday afternoon for a little reading time together. The 2nd graders are building their confidence with their reading as they practice reading fluency and expression with the help of these sweet preschoolers as their audience. Here's what we have in store now!
THE NEW PLAN:
The 1st Tuesday of the month: Project Day.
Mrs. Love-Smith and I will have a collaborative project or craft for the kids to work on! We want the kids to develop a relationship with each other and to learn to give back to the community! So, some of our projects may go into our community! What a great way to spread the good news about St. James!
(P.S. We may need your help sometimes!)
The 2nd Tuesday of the month: Adult Reading Day. We would like one parent from the preschool room and one parent from the 2nd grade room to come in and read a book to us! No pressure, we will pick out the book for you! The time slot is 15-20 minutes so please check your schedule and see if you can help out! We will both have sign up sheets at conferences! Of course, November's date is fast approaching... are YOU able to help read aloud on Tuesday, November 14th from 2:20-2:40?
The 3rd and 4th Tuesdays of the month: Reading Buddies with our friends.
The two classes will get together and have our traditional reading buddy time!
Mrs. Love-Smith and I are excited to get this started and see where it takes us! Our goals for the kids are: Enhanced relationships between the classes, giving back to the community, kids having a variety of books and seeing a variety of adults read!
Thank you for your time!
