Oh Come and Mourn With Me Awhile
Today Mother Church gives us the Feast of the Sorrowful Mother.
Once again we meditate on the suffering and sacrifice that our Blessed Mother
endured at the foot of the cross of Jesus. I can't imagine what she must have
gone through as she saw her son suffering and then holding her son's lifeless body
after his death. This scene brought to mind a very old hymn by Father Frederick Faber,a convert to Catholicism, titled O come and mourn with me while. There are different versions of lyrics for this hymn. In one of the versions the first verse says, "O come and mourn with me awhile, see Mary calls us to her side". This is a very poignant hymn especially on Good Friday. There is a repeated line of lyrics in this song which is "Jesus, our love, is crucified". Each time I hear that line it pierces my heart. My challenge for you today is to take time and spend it with Mary at the foot of the cross and mourn with her.

Welcome Back
Children of God and Young Families Ministries!
We are thrilled to welcome back two ministries dedicated to our youngest parishioners and their families next Sunday, September 19th!
The Children of God program for children ages 4 to 6 is held during the 8:15 Mass on the first and third Sundays of each month. Shortly after Mass starts, children will be dismissed to the Chapel to learn about the liturgy through story-telling, discussion, and play. The lesson will be based on the readings of the week. Just before the presentation of the gifts, children will be escorted back to participate in the rest of the Mass with their families. Please consider having your child(ren) participate in this educational and fun program!
Got your hands full during Mass with a fussy baby? Did you miss out on the homily this week? Join the Young Families Ministry for community and discussion on this week's Readings in the Social Hall the first and third Sundays of the month from 9:30 am-10:00 am. Refreshments and babysitting will be provided.
Pick Up Choir
Thank you to all who participated in the first "Pick-Up" Choir! We again want to invite everyone to be a part of our group! The "Pick-Up" choir meets in the church in the choir area 45 minutes before the beginning of Mass. We will provide music, you bring your own Breaking Bread book.
