Greetings Confirmation Class of 2021-2022!
¡Saludos Clase de Confirmación de 2021-2022!
Here is your first weekly email from me as we begin the process of preparing ourselves for the sacrament of confirmation! Here is what each email will include:
- A link to the Sunday Readings for each week. Holy Mother Church asks us as Catholics to prepare for mass by reading the mass readings ahead of time before mass. We have 168 hours in a week and it really only takes 15-30 mins to read through the readings each week and a few more to sit and ponder them. This could even be a family activity around the dinner table.
- A saint of the week: each week we will highlight a new saint for the confirmation candidate (confirmandi) to look at, investigate and perhaps choose as their confirmation saint name. The saints are great guides for each of us on how to live a Christ-centered Holy life and they are as different from each other and you or I so there really is a saint for everyone!
- Some form of media that is dedicated to spiritual growth for the confirmation candidate and their family. This may be an article or blog post, a video, or a podcast that contains information for them that they may find helpful on their spiritual journey.
- A prayer or instructions for a type of prayer to try that week
- Any announcements for the upcoming weeks with regards to youth group or confirmation
So without further ado here is the first weekly message:

Announcements:
If you have not chosen your sponsor yet please do so. The requirements for a sponsor are as follows:
- They must be Catholic and in good standing with the church (if they are married they must be married within the church, receive the sacraments regularly, and not in a state of mortal sin)
- They must 16 years old
- They must already be confirmed
- They CANNOT be a parent of the confirmation candidate
- They should be someone who you would consider strong in their faith as it will be their responsibility for the remainder of the program to assist you in your journey toward the sacrament.
If you cannot find someone that meets these requirements please let me know as I would be happy to help you find someone or be that person myself.
Be aware of the confirmation sponsors' evening on October 17, 2021, from 7:00 PM-9:30 PM in the Parish Hall at Christ the King. It is important that the confirmation candidate and sponsor be there for this evening. If the sponsor is unable to make the night for whatever reason a parent may come in their place. Parents are invited to the sponsors' night even if the sponsor is able to attend but are not required if the sponsor is going to be there.
The first confirmation retreat is November 20th, 2021 from 7:30 am-6:30 pm we will begin the day at 8:00 am but please come early for breakfast and social. Parents and sponsors are invited to the retreat as well but not required to come. We will be closing the day with mass at 5:30 PM and families are encouraged to join their confirmation candidate at mass.
Youth group meets each Wednesday from 5:30 PM-7:30 PM we being each night with mass, unless otherwise noted and all confirmation candidates are invited to attend, if you haven't registered for youth group and you want to attend please do so here:

Si aún no ha elegido a su patrocinador, hágalo. Los requisitos para un patrocinador son los siguientes:
- Deben ser católicos y estar en buena posición con la iglesia (si están casados, deben estar casados dentro de la iglesia, recibir los sacramentos con regularidad y no estar en estado de pecado mortal).
- Deben tener 16 años
- Ya deben estar confirmados
- NO PUEDEN ser padres del candidato a la confirmación
- Debe ser alguien a quien usted considere fuerte en su fe, ya que será su responsabilidad durante el resto del programa ayudarlo en su camino hacia la Santa Cena.
Si no puede encontrar a alguien que cumpla con estos requisitos, hágamelo saber, ya que estaré encantado de ayudarlo a encontrar a alguien o ser esa persona yo mismo.
Tenga en cuenta la velada de los patrocinadores de confirmación el 17 de octubre de 2021, de 7:00 p.m. a 9:30 p.m. en el Salón Parroquial de Cristo Rey. Es importante que el candidato a la confirmación y el patrocinador estén presentes esta noche. Si el patrocinador no puede asistir a la noche por cualquier motivo, un padre puede venir en su lugar. Los padres están invitados a la noche de los patrocinadores incluso si el patrocinador puede asistir, pero no es obligatorio si el patrocinador va a estar allí.
El primer retiro de confirmación es el 20 de noviembre de 2021 de 7:30 a. M. A 6:30 p. M. Comenzaremos el día a las 8:00 a. M., Pero venga temprano para el desayuno y las reuniones sociales.
