Dear St. Rose family,
I have been reflecting on Matthew 7:13 today: "Enter by the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and there are many who go in by it. Because narrow is the gate and difficult is the way which leads to life, and there are few who find it."
I hope we can be among "the few" who find the narrow gate that leads to life—the life that Christ wants for us. But we must first widen our perspective in order to find that narrow path. Too often in our world, our perspectives are skewed by what we choose, by what fits our narrative. By broadening our view and looking at the whole picture we are better able to see what Jesus wants from us and for us.

2021 SEMINARIAN APPEAL
Most parishioners will receive a mailing from the Archdiocese within the next few days for the 2021 Seminarian Appeal. Appeal funds are used to help fund seminarian education and formation for seminarians sponsored by the Archdiocese of Portland. The theme of the 2021 Seminarian Appeal is, Remain in me: Rooting our Identity in Christ.
As you consider your support of our archdiocesan seminarians, please reflect on Psalm 139:14, “I praise you, because I am wonderfully made; wonderful are your works! My very self you know.” Through our baptism, God unites us to Himself as sons and daughters. We continue to deepen our identity and relationship with Christ throughout our life in the Church. Remembering the value of the priesthood in your own sacramental life, please pray for our seminarians and please give generously to their education and formation through the Seminarian Appeal.

THANK YOU to everyone who worked so hard to make this year's Fish BBQ possible—from our organizer, Joe Manning to our St. Rose Knights of Columbus and every volunteer in between. We had a wonderful turnout and raised over $7,000—twice what we projected for this modified version of our annual event!
In other good news, our lucky 50/50 winner was a brand new family at our school, so that was quite a welcome! All in all, the meals were delicious and the fellowship priceless. God is good!
