574. What are the difficulties in prayer?
Distraction is a habitual difficulty in our prayer. It takes our attention away from God and can also reveal what we are attached to. Our heart therefore must humbly turn to the Lord. Prayer is often affected by dryness. Overcoming this difficulty allows us to cling to the Lord in faith, even without any feeling of consolation. Acedia is a form of spiritual laziness due to relaxed vigilance and a lack of custody of the heart.

This Week at All Saints
"Say the Word and My Soul Shall be Healed"
Catechetical Sunday is a wonderful opportunity to reflect on the role that each person plays, by virtue of Baptism, in handing on the faith and being a witness to the Gospel. This year, the Church will celebrate Catechetical Sunday on September 19, 2021, and the theme is: “Say the Word and My Soul Shall be Healed." Those who the parish community has designated to serve as catechists will be called forth to be commissioned for their ministry.
Let us pray for all of our catechists - Catechists to our children in Faith Formation, Catholic School Teachers, Catechists to our Jr-High and Sr-High youth ministry, Catechists to our religious education for the developmentally challenged, Catechists to our adults seeking baptism and confirmation, Catechists to our children seeking Reconciliation, Holy Communion, and Confirmation, Catechists to our adult faith formation opportunities, Catechists to our young adults and couples in preparation for Marriage, Catechists to our young parents in preparation for the baptism of their children,
There will be a special blessing for all our catechists at the 11 am Mass.

Sometimes we get so caught up in the depth of our faith that we forget what it was like to first wrestle with the big questions – Who am I? What am I searching for? What’s our shared story? Who is Jesus? Why do we need a Church? Is there a God? We all need to get back to the basics to make sure the foundation is strong.

Each month all of our children in our Catholic School, Faith Formation program and Youth Ministry focus on building good habits and virtues.
Volunteers Needed at All Saints Catholic School
Dear Parishioners, We are seeking several volunteers who can help us, consistently, with the following positions: • Events Coordinator/Planner
• Cafeteria Monitor (2 hours daily)
• Cafeteria Server (2 hours daily)
• Cafeteria Cleaner (3 hours daily)
• Recess Monitor (2 hours daily)
Each volunteer will attend Virtus Training and a seminar with the school principal.

All Saints Parish Bible Study
Catholic Way Bible Study Returns Our parish Bible study begins in September!
The 2021-22 study will cover the Old Testament books of Tobit, Judith and Esther and then move to the New Testament to study the Letter to the Hebrews.
We are excited to offer this year's study in two different formats. Choose the study option that works best for you:
On Site - For those who have missed our traditional Monday large and small group gatherings, we will once again be meeting in person in the Parish Center.
Off Site - For those who enjoyed the flexibility of studying with their own group at the time and day they choose, we will provide materials and streaming video access.
Registration - To register for this year's study, simply pick up your materials after any Mass on the weekend of September 11/12. Materials can also be picked up from the Parish office beginning Monday, September 13. If this is your first time studying with us, we will ask for your name along with an email and/or phone number so we can keep you updated with class info.
Cost - This year's study is being offered free of charge. Donations are welcome! You may do this by an increase in your weekly offertory or by special donation.
Schedule - For those choosing the in-person format, class begins Monday, September 27 at 6:30 PM in the Parish Center. A complete schedule will be included with your class materials. God has blessed our parish through the study of the Sacred Scriptures, and we can't wait to begin another year of Bible study with our brothers and sisters of All Saints Parish!
Choir Meeting and Pot-luck dinner
Tuesday, September 21st starting at 6 pm in the Parish Hall there will be a Choir Meeting, time of prayer and faith formation and potluck dinner. All are invited.

A very special celebration for Fr. James Fitzpatrick's 50th Anniversary of Ordination will be held on Tuesday, October 26. Mass will be celebrated at St. Bernard Church (where Fr. Jim was ordained a priest!) with a light reception following in the Friendship Room/St. Bernard Gym.
All Saints Fall Turkey Dinner & Raffle
All Saints Turkey Dinner is back this year, along with the All Saints Gift Raffle and the Big All Saints Money Raffle. We are in need of merchandise or gift cards with a value of at least $25.00 for the raffle. We are also looking for disciples to work the raffle, and help with dinner, serving, and clean-up in the kitchen and social hall.
Raffle tickets are $25 with a chance to win $3,000! 2 tickets for parishioners to sell are available in the gathering space. All monies raised go to off set our parish debt. If all 1600 parishioner families sell 2 tickets we will raise $75,000 for our debt.
