Father Raymond D. Tyohemba, VC
This weekend we celebrate the Feast of St. Finn Barr, patron of our parish, founder and patron of the city, and diocese of cork!
Our readings for the Sunday Mass challenge us to more profound insight. In the first reading from the Book of Numbers, two men, Eldad and Medad, who were not in the camp, also received the spirit of God. Like Eldad and Medad, they are Christians but are doing the work of the lord they do not know. We see that in people who promote the sacredness of life, people who raise family values, the dignity of sexuality, who point out moral wrongdoings on every level. They may not be members of the Church, but they are our allies in promoting Gospel values. As Jesus says in today's Gospel, "Whoever is not against us is with us." More so, the Holy Spirit moves as It will.
