Happy weekend everyone!
This week has flown by!! In Reading we acted out a play about a mobile library and discussed that the theme of the story was, "anyone can help out their community." We also talked about prefixes, breaking words into syllables and simple vs. compound sentences. And, per usual- this class did great on their spelling!
During math this week we wrapped up chapter 1 with a test and got started on chapter 2. This chapter is about multiplication and everyone seemed to welcome a change of pace in math. Any and all practice on multiplication facts at home will help tremendously with this chapter.
Science has been very exciting this week as our mealworms have started changing into beetles. The kids loved it, Mrs. Horak and Mrs. Morrris not so sure. We also made homes for our new friends, sow bugs and pill bugs. We will continue to observe and investigate all these little creatures and their habitats.
During social studies we finished up our partner research project about inventions during the industrial revolution. The kids created notecards with a paragraph and an illustration about their invention and then presented to the class.
Writing is so fun with this group! Just a heads up parents- their latest opinion paper is about, "should kids have smartphones." I'm not sure any of them is taking the "no" position. :)
We have had so much fun with all of your kiddos these last few weeks! We celebrated out last day with a scavanger hunt, some snacks and trinkets! Thanks for sharing your wonderful children with us! We assured them that we will still see them around the building and that more fun is to come with Mrs. Heisdorffer!
Have a great weekend everyone!
