Dear Friend,
As we enter this weekend, we recognize that many ethnic groups honor important memories this weekend for different reasons.
First, we recognize the importance of the indigenous persons of America. Chicago has the third largest urban American Indian community and it is good to recall that the land on which Saint Andrew Parish currently occupies once belonged to their ancestors. The Chicago area is located on ancestral lands of indigenous tribes, such as the Council of the Three Fires--comprised of the Ojibwe, Odawa, and Potawatomi Nations--as well as the Miami, Ho-Chunk, Menominee, Sac, Fox, Kickapoo, and Illinois Nations.
This weekend is also a weekend which celebrates the memory of Christopher Columbus who is often heralded by the Italian community here in Chicago including the parade downtown on Monday. May these celebrations always lead us into deeper mutual respect for one another.
This weekend we have Mass celebrated at the times listed below. Please join us in person or, if you cannot, please join us online through our live stream.
Mass times are Saturday at 4:00pm and Sunday at 9:00am and 11:00am. Confessions will be heard at 3:00pm on Saturday in the main church.
