There is much to celebrate: 10 Years of Hispanic Ministry, Feast of Our Lady of the Rosary (anticipation of October 7), Dedication of our renovated Chapel to Our Lady of Guadalupe (Patron Saint of the Americas, Protectress of the Unborn, and Queen of Evangelization), Blessing of the new, inspirational painting of Divine Mercy (last painting by Orlando Lagman), Outdoor Procession of the Blessed Sacrament, Praying for Unity in the EUCHARIST (Paschal Mystery and Holy Communion), unveiling of the EUCHARISTIC DISPLAY to be one of the focus of our YEAR OF EUCHARISTIC RENEWAL, and FIESTA in the Father Martin Hall (food and music).

Weekly Eucharistic Adoration
We have an Adoration Chapel at OLHOC that provides a place for people to spend time with Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament.
The chapel is open Monday– Friday from 10 am– noon.

General Dispensation from the Obligation to Attend Mass has been lifted
COME BACK TO CHURCH
The dispensation of the Sunday and Holy Day obligation has been lifted. The reinstatement of the obligation to attend Mass at church began at the end of June. Please consult with Father Alain if you have questions regarding your obligation to attend Mass.
We implemented and have regularly adjusted a conservative COVID protocol for OLHOC constantly referencing guidance from CDC, MD state government, Charles County, and Archdiocese of Washington.*

Mass protocol
- Masks are required inside our church and building for everyone over the age of five. This applies if you are vaccinated or unvaccinated.
- Please maintain 3’ social distance between household families.
- Wash hands frequently and use sanitizer when coming to Church.
- Stay home if you feel ill or vulnerable to Covid transmission.
- Altar Servers please contact Deacon Bill if you are interested in serving.
- We will need 2 Lectors for each Mass, please contact Michelle Klein if you're interested or leave a message in the office.
Twenty-seventh Sunday in Ordinary Time
Classes Have Started!
Last week was our first class back since before COVID. We were very grateful to have our children back in the classrooms, it went very well. Please continue to pray for our students and catechist
Pre-k/Kindergarten, 1st, 2nd, 7th & 8th grades will be in class every Sunday (9:45-11:15 am) or Monday (6:45 pm - 8:10 pm).
Special needs classes are held Mondays (5:30pm -6:30pm)
RCIC classes will be every Monday from 7pm-8 pm
3rd, 4th, 5th & 6th grades will be blended/hybrid classes. Hybrid classes have the option of attending every other Sunday (9:3011:15), or Monday (6:45-8:10 pm).

Respect Life Sunday
Each year, the first Sunday of October is designated: "Respect Life Sunday", when we are asked to re-commit ourselves to promoting the culture of LIFE.
It is a good time to ask ourselves whether we are good witnesses to the respect we are called to have for all human life, from conception to natural death. This is challenging because we are members of a society in which there is tremendous pressure to limit our love and ignore the sacredness of human life.
We live in a violent society that sees violence and death by abortion, euthanasia, suicide and capital punishment as a solution to many of our personal and societal "problems". And many of these attitudes are enshrined in our law and culture, leading to more violence, manifested in spousal and child abuse, the gang culture and so on.
On this Respect Life Sunday, we should pray hard for our legislators, for those mothers who feel forced to choose abortion and for those who provide and promote abortion. But we must also look at ourselves. Do we speak up for the innocent abortion victims? Do we promote pro-life values? Do we vote for pro-life politicians? Do we do anything
tangible to protect the unborn?
We can definitely help change our society to become a culture of LIFE, but we must be active, informed and faithful witnesses.
If you are looking for a change in your life, this Catechesis is for you. Join Father Jan, two couples, and two Seminarians to learn how to do this through your faith.

Girl Scout Troop 6614 has set up a “little” food pantry in the lobby by the office.

Our Lady's Little Christians
Early Learning Center
OLLC gives preschoolers a beginning in their Catholic education. Many families need financial assistance to attend our OLLC Early Learning Center. If you are in a position to donate, please make your check payable to Our Lady’s Little Christians Early Learning Center or for online instructions, send an email to ollc@olhoc.org
Baby Bottles will be distributed the weekend of October 9/10.
Please take one and
put your coins/bills in it.
Bring the bottles back to church through November 6/7.
All monies collected in the bottles will be donated to the Catherine Foundation, a pregnancy resource center in Waldorf (for more details, click here).
Taxpayer Funding of Abortion
The disastrous 1973 Supreme Court decision, Roe v. Wade, thrust abortion-on-demand upon the nation, resulting in the deaths of millions of preborn babies every year. But that isn't enough for pro-abortionists. They also force taxpayers to pay for it.
Whether it is spending taxpayer money to fund abortion through private insurance mandates, Medicaid, health plans for federal employees, military personnel, women in abroad, there seems to be no end to the abortion industry's thirst for tax dollars.
Abortion providers such as Planned Parenthood continue to receive hundreds of millions of tax dollars every year un- der Title X, which subsidizes their overhead for promoting abortion, as they divert more and more resources towards abortion.
In 2012, Planned Parenthood reported a total income of $1.14 billion. Taxpayers shelled out $542 million to pad the abortion provider's bottom line through federal and state grants and contracts (or 45% of its entire income).
All the while, Planned Parenthood reduced non-abortion related programs like breast cancer screening and infertility treatment, and demanded that all its affiliate centers offer surgical abortion.
If we want to reduce the number of deaths induced by Planned Parenthood and other abortionists, we need to end their life line: taxpayer funding. (Pro-Life Articles)

Catholic families deserve to be safe and loved at home. Yet one out of 4 women, 1 out of 7 men have experienced severe physical violence in an intimate relationship: being kicked, beaten, choked, burned, having a weapon used against them.

Our Lady of the Rosary– October 7th
The story of the feast of Our Lady of the Rosary focuses on the intercessory power of Mary. It shows that when Christians are in danger, they can go to Mary. And when an individual is in pain, discouraged, or having trouble accepting God’s will, he or she can also go to Mary. She will pray to her Son for anyone who calls on her. Anyone who prays to Mary no longer feels alone because she prays with them and for them. Mary encouraged praying the Rosary in her apparitions. At Lourdes when she appeared to Saint Bernadette, Mary had a Rosary. As Bernadette prayed it, Mary joined in on the Glory Be prayers. At Fatima, Mary exhorted the three children who saw her to pray the Rosary for peace. The Rosary is a deep prayer because as we recite the Our Fathers, Hail Marys, and Glory Be's, we meditate on the mysteries in the lives of Jesus and Mary. HELP KEEP OUR CHURCH CLEAN
Since last year, OLHOC cut back on many of the services we use to pay for. Due to financial restraints, the lawn maintenance is all done by volunteers, we no longer have a staff person to help out with the facilities, and we cut back on our cleaning services to once a week. Please do your part in helping to keep our church clean.
