Msgr. Robert Cary Hill - The Funeral Mass for our former pastor, Msgr. Hill, will take place on Thursday, October 7, at noon at Holy Cross Church with interment to follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery. The Mass will be live-streamed. The link is here.
60th Anniversary Cookbooks…Coming Soon!

We are excited to announce the launch of the 60th Anniversary cookbook! They are available now for pre-order—details below. The print copy plus the digital is $20.00 and the digital copy only is $10.00. The print copies and the digital copies will be available by the November 1st. Print copies will be delivered to those with pre-orders. Any extra copies will be available for the Holy Cross community to purchase.
Checks should be made out to “Holy Cross Church” and dropped off or mailed to the parish office or
mailed to the school (4900 Strathmore Avenue, Garrett Park, MD 20896). Pre-orders are due by October 15th.
Everyone who purchases the print or digital copy will be entered to win a $100 gift card to Bed, Bath & Beyond so you can purchase some new kitchen gadgets before you start making these delicious recipes!

60th Anniversary Church and School Service Project
The church and school are partnering to donate bags for the homeless.
We are asking Holy Cross parishioners and school families to donate items until Sunday, October 17. Donation boxes will be in the back of the church and outside of the main entrance of school. Items needed: toothbrushes, toothpaste, travel size shampoo & conditioner, travel size body wash, soap, brushes, combs, socks, hats, gloves and scarfs. Please be sure all items donated are new. The lower school students will be making cards and decorations for the bags and the upper school students will be assembling the bags.
CYO Basketball Registration is Here!
Holy Cross is excited to get back on the court* this winter with CYO basketball. As always, we welcome the children of Holy Cross Parish and School in grades K through 8 to join our basketball teams. Holy Cross will offer a weekly instructional clinic for grades K-3 and competitive teams for grades 4-8.
Visit Sports Pilot to register your student athletes and electronically sign waiver forms. Payment by credit card is required at the time of registration. Close to the start of the season, your player’s coach will be in touch to outline the practice and game schedule for the upcoming season.

Help Save Lives in Bethesda!
Join in the 40 Days for Life Prayer vigil at the late-term abortion facility at the Wildwood Medical Center, 10401 Old Georgetown Road. Holy Cross has committed to praying on the public sidewalk along the white fence from 1-6 PM on Sunday, October 17. Please sign up for one hour on the sheet in the vestibule. In addition, Holy Cross parishioners are also praying there on Thursdays from 5 -7 PM. Join us when you can!
We are happy to announce that “Lift High Holy Cross”, our capital campaign is underway. Materials on Lift High Holy Cross were distributed after Masses recently and can be found on the parish website including details on the renovation of our former convent, Quinn Hall, to serve as a parish and school center, and the other projects incorporated in this campaign.
We encourage everyone to participate in this capital campaign. 100% of your contribution remains at Holy Cross, solely for capital improvements. No professional fees were undertaken.
We ask for your pledge in support of Lift High Holy Cross. Once you have prepared your pledge card, you may:
- Bring it to the Rectory (Monday-Friday between 9 am to 4 pm),
- Drop it thru the mail slot in the Rectory door anytime,
- Mail it to Rectory (PO Box 249, Garrett Park, MD 20896) or
- Place it in the collection basket.

REBUILDING TOGETHER 2021
On September 11, Holy Cross participated in the Rebuilding Together Program Workday. For over 20 years, we have participated with Saint Mark Presbyterian Church and Bethesda United Church of Christ. These are two of the Churches that were part of our Christian Unity Group. We not only pray together, we work together!
The "three church team” worked on a variety of projects, making much needed repairs that enabled the homeowners to stay safely in their home A highlight of the workday was the “Holy Cross Café” providing lunch for approximately 30 volunteers!
The generous Poor Box donations from Holy Cross will be used for supplies needed to finish some upgrades to the home.
