Parish Update -- October 2, 2021 -- Memorial of the Holy Guardian Angels
Dear Parishioners of St. Joseph:
First Saturday Mass Parking -- Parking may be hard this morning because of the Cotton District Arts Festival. The Nash Street entrance is open. If you're coming to Mass or coming to the Church to pray, this is the way in. Parking is available for our needs in the paved lot between the Parish Hall and Nash Street. It is blocked off by police barricades, but you should be able to navigate your way in. Confessions at 9:30 AM, Mass is at 10 AM.
Ladies Auxiliary Bake Sale -- Here is a link to the this year's Bake Sale. The Ladies are fundraising for their scholarship they provide. Last year, between them and the Knights of Columbus, they were able to raise enough for two $1,000 scholarships. The link is here:

NB: The form will not be "live" until tomorrow though. So after tomorrow, you should be able to use the form to order these delicious treats.
Blessing of Pets -- We are planning on having the Blessing of Animals at 2 PM tomorrow. There is a high possibility of rain. If this is the case, we will move to the covered area underneath the awning at the Parish Hall.
Towing -- Please be careful about parking your car here through the weekend, especially at night, as the possibility of towing is increased. Our night security now has authority to tow vehicles not authorized to be present. .
Communion on the tongue -- At all Masses at St. Joseph, Communion on the tongue is certainly permitted. However, I'd like to ask those who wish to receive on the tongue to make a good effort to wait toward the end of the line to receive.
Guardian Angels -- Today is the feast of the Guardian Angels. Jesus says in Matthew as he places a child in front of his disciples, “See that you do not despise one of these little ones, for I say to you that their angels in heaven always look upon the face of my heavenly Father” (Matthew 18:10). The presence of these angels in our lives is one of the ways God shows us His immense love for us. I'm sure many of you remember the prayer you were probably taught as children -- "Angel of God, my guardian dear, for whom God's love commits me here, ever this day, be at my side, to light, to guard, to rule and guide. Amen." Let us give thanks today for this special way God has loved us.
Peace,
Fr. Jason
