Join Fr. Joe for a camp out on the North portion of the cemetery and praying for the dead. Children of all ages may participate but at least one parent MUST attend.
Things to bring:
- Tent for your family (kids MUST tent with parents)
- Sleeping bag & sleeping pad
- Warm clothing (can get cold at night)
- Food/Camp cooking stove (each family is responsible for their evening meal)
- Flashlight, headlamp, or lantern
What to expect:
- The parish will provide items for s’mores & campfire
- Prayer booklet & stories of faith about those who have passed
- Novena every hour in the cemetery for 9 hours (6 PM – 2 AM)
- Activities for kids/families to form them in praying for the dead
This event is Friday night, October 22. You can set up your tents anytime after 4pm. Our first novena prayers will be at 6 PM. We'll end the event with a hot breakfast.

October 31st at 2 pm!
Kids: Dress up as your favorite Saint to enjoy the afternoon with the parade of Saints, music, & fun! Enjoy a puppet show with Brother Monk and story time with Fr. Tatro! Kid's games are returning this year to be entered to win a prize at the end and prizes will be given for best boy and girl saint costumes! **Need costume ideas? Click here!
Adults: Come join in the fun, decorate a trunk and pass out candy for the kids!! We'll have our traditional St. Brigid's Lake of Beer with adult beverages, and bierocks and seasoned pretzels!
CAPITAL CAMPAIGN!
Many are asking when they will be able to make their commitment to the Capital Campaign to build our new church – and that time is just around the corner. Your brochure outlining the project and other important information about the campaign and how you can support the effort and invest in our parish has been mailed to each parish household. Please take time to read it and do not hesitate to reach out to the building committee or the capital campaign committee with any questions you have.
During Masses on October 23rd & 24th we will commission our project volunteers. That afternoon, they will be out making visits to their assigned parish homes. They will be visiting each parish family and leaving a packet for them to pray about as a family, and decide their involvement. This will be your opportunity to support this important parish project.
On October 31st, they will be returning to the same parish family homes and pick up the completed packet in a sealed envelope and return them to the parish office. All giving to the campaign will be confidential and anonymous.
Thank you to all who have volunteered to be a home visitor - it is appreciated! Thank you to all who called and recruited these important volunteers – it is also appreciated!
This is an exciting time for our parish, and one that will truly make a difference in the future of St. John’s, our faith journey as a parish and as individuals, and will be building on our strong history while investing in our future. Your continued prayers for the success of the capital campaign are important for our parish and its future. Together we will enhance St. John’s where we gather as a community to share and grow our faith.
