God Bless the Cook!
Foolish by nature were all who were in ignorance of God, and who from the good things seen did not succeed in knowing the one who is, and from studying the works did not discern the artisan; ... For they indeed have gone astray perhaps, though they seek God and wish to find him. For they search busily among his works, but are distracted by what they see, because the things seen are fair. For if they so far succeeded in knowledge that they could speculate about the world, how did they not more quickly find its Lord? (Wisdom 13:1, 6b, 7, 9)
Thank God for the technological world. With face time, 360-degree virtual tour, google maps etc., we are able to experience the beauty God’s created things which can lead us to God, our maker. “For from the greatness and the beauty of created things their original author, by analogy, is seen.” (Wisdom 13:5) God created this world and God saw that it was good. (Genesis 1) Goodness is one of the attributes of God and we tend to take the good and forget about God. We eat the apple and forget taking good care of the apple tree. This happens very easily and very frequently: God's good gifts distract us from God. “Foolish by nature were all who were in ignorance of God.” (Wisdom 13:1a) It doesn’t how smart we are, we often fail to recognize that there is life beyond this good world or the God who is in visibly present behind each breath we take. Let’s bring this phenomenon close to home. Once the good meal is on the table, we seldom remember to thank the cook. Parents who lavish toys and gifts upon their children and they quickly taken for granted. When you give your child an orange, he/she says "would peel it for me?" instead of "thank you."
What distracts you from God?
Do you take time thank the cooks?
Do you know God is the Giver of all good gifts?
Lord open my eyes, so I can see YOU in all things today and give glory to You.
