Hello first grade families,
I hope everyone had a great week. I just wanted to give everyone an update on what is going on in first grade.
We have been learning the following in each class:
Reading: We talked about how important order of events is when reading a story. We read a folktale about how leopards came to have spots and worked on putting the story in order of what happened. We also began working on homophones and played memory match!
Math- We have began our fourth unit in our books! We are back to learning more strategies that will help us solve subtraction problems.
Science- Science seems to be the crowd favorite and they have been very excited to dive into our new kit that we have. We got a chance to start looking closer at our rocks. We found out what happens when we rub two rocks together and what happens when we put them in water. We learned the names of the three groups of rocks that we have been working with this week.
In other news:- Thank you to Bobby and his family for bringing snack this week. It will be Miss Sines' turn to bring snack next week.
- Thanksgiving break begins Wednesday, November 22nd. We will have an early dismissal that day. We will return from break on Tuesday, November 28th.
- I sent home a December book order today. Those will be due back December 8th. If you placed an order from November it has been sent in and is currently being processed. We should have those orders soon.
- If you are able to return your student's report card envelope that would be greatly appreciate. This helps the school save money by not having to purchase more envelopes for each report card.
If you have any questions, feel free to contact me at any time. Have a great weekend!
