Of particular interest to parents with children at home will be the next two sessions of Fr. Larry’s presentation of Making Church Home on Monday evenings, Oct. 11th & 18th. Together we will explore the dynamics of faith life focusing on engaging ways families can bring to their home and daily life the various Church seasons and festivals. Connecting everyday life to our worship experiences each weekend is an excellent way to foster a deeper incorporation and understanding of our life of faith.
The involvement of children in these observances and celebrations helps them embrace the cycle of the Church Year with a new appreciation of the relationship of these to the story of Christ. There are many rich traditions from all over the world that are useful in highlighting such celebrations as All Saints and All Souls, Advent, Christmas, Epiphany, Lent and Easter. Many saint’s days and Holy Days offer opportunities for hands-on experiences that can become beloved family traditions. Even Hallowe’en can be rescued from its commercial corruption and regain its original context!
Join us in the Family Center Monday October 11 &18 at 7pm. Childcare will be provided as well as refreshments. RSVP for childcare to Amy Allert, amy-allert@sttaustin.org.
