October is Respect Life Month. A single red rose on the altar represents the unborn child. Just like the unborn child, the rose conveys life, love and hope.

Blessing of the Animals, Saturday Oct. 9, 2021 @ 10:00 AM. Join us outside the Parish Center for a Blessing of the Animals. All animals great and small are welcome. Please arrive at 9:45AM to prepare for the blessing and have animals on leashes or in cages. Wearing of masks is encouraged, but optional. Refreshments will be available. Treats for the animals.
Man Hour Returns, Oct.9, 7:00 AM, in the church. Breakfast is on the first Saturday of the month at different locations. All other meetings are at 7 AM in the church.
Belles Sewing Day, Oct. 13, 10:00 AM - 2:00 PM, in the Parish Center. Please bring your lunch and sewing machine. There are projects for those who do not sew, too. Call Sue Pardo (410-456-7882).

Trunk 'n' Treat, Saturday, Oct. 30, 6-8 PM. Outdoors only, weather permitting / no rain date. Sponsored by St. Mary’s Youth Ministry & the Knights of Columbus. Hayrides offered. We will be serving in North Haledon, New Jersey, the week of July 17-22, 2022. Work Camp is open to students ages 14 -17 in Middle or High School and to Young Adults. All students must have Worthy of the Call Training to volunteer, Anyone 18 or over must complete the online Virtus Child Protection Training w/substantial contact. Dare to Care Forms are available online, in the vestibule of Church or Youth Ministry Bulletin Boards in the Hall and Youth Room. To reserve your spot you need to return a completed Dare to Care Form with a $100 non-refundable deposit due by November 1. The total cost is $300.00. 40 Days for Life continues at Belair Beltway Plaza at 7600 Belair Road through October 31. Whole Women’s Health, the abortion center we hope to close, is located in the back of the plaza. Annual fundraiser for BirthRight Crisis Pregnancy Center and the Gabriel Network. Place donations in collection baskets in the vestibule on the weekends of October 23-24 and October 30-31. BirthRight and Gabriel Network are vital local resources for women facing a crisis pregnancy. We ask for a $10 donation per family, more if you are able, for this worthy cause. Synod 2021-2023 The Archdiocese is kicking-off its beginning phases for the world-wide Synod 2021-2023, Towards a Synodal Church: Communion, Participation, and Mission. The Archdiocese’s Opening Mass for the Synod being held at the Cathedral of Mary Our Queen on October 17 at 11:00 a.m. The celebration is open to everyone.
The Year of the Eucharist. The celebration continues and we approach the next feast where the focus is “Christ in the Congregation” on Eve of All Saints Day - October 31. The Burial of Urns, All Souls Day November 2, 2021. The Archdiocese of Baltimore is providing a final resting place for those who were cremated but not yet buried. This is an opportunity to bury the deceased in sacred ground at Holy Cross Cemetery (Ritchie Highway) for a reduced cost of $350. Volunteers are the backbone of the parish and we welcome new volunteers with open arms. However, in the world today we must do everything we can to protect all people of all ages, the church and also yourself.
If you are ready and willing to give of your time and talent to be a part of one or more of our many ministries, please contact Barbara Sadler, Extension 22 or bsadler@stmaryspylesville.org for the information and guidance of the required Virtus training. The training will provide insight for the protection of all age groups and the responsibilities. DON’T WORRY!! It is an easy procedure.
