This week...
The last two weeks have been busy!
Your kids looked great participating in the Washington Homecoming dress up days! The themes this year were so creative and fun (even if so many of us already dress like farmers) and the kids loved participating.
*We read The Letters Are Lost for Read It Again! We talked about the words behind, beside, under, on top, in front. This was a great way to introduce these directional words because we often get confused about them when I standing in line. We will keep working on these directional words.
*We talked about Fire Prevention and Safety this week. We read several books, watched the fire truck drive on to the playground, two toy fire trucks were added to the blocks as well as some blocks with fire fighters and flames taped on them and a toy fire house, and we created our own fire trucks. Whew! That was a lot of fun!
*We had a fire drill with the whole school on Tuesday. We got to see everyone else leaving their rooms and walking out of the building.
*For literacy I put shelled corn in a box and added letters to it. The students could hunt out the letters and find the match on the coordinating paper. Next I will print off the lower case letters on a sheet and do the same thing.
*We also talked about the letters Bb and Ee.
Next week...
*We will be working on creating apples to add to our door for art.
*We are going to taste 3 different colored apples and graph our favorite one.
*We will have an apple weighing station.
*We will talk about the letters Rr and Ll.
*We will work on rhyming.
Reminders...
*Books are to be returned on Monday so a new one can be checked out.
*Please bring back water bottles cleaned.
*Please bring back their washed towels or blankets for rest time.
*Please do not have your child bring PopIts. They have been a distraction in class.
*Pictures are Tuesday Oct. 12th.
*Please do not send your child to school chewing gum or with a sucker in their mouth. We have found gum on the blocks.
