Welcome Aboard! We are happy to announce the newest member of the St. Nicholas Staff, Kathy Garnes, who will be filling the position of Parish Secretary. Kathy is a lifelong member of St. Nicholas parish, a catechist for many, many years, as well as an Elizabeth House volunteer. If you don't know her by name, you certainly know her parents, Henry, and Martha Borger.
We are incredibly excited to welcome Kathy to our staff family. We know she will be a valuable asset to our team.
Welcome aboard, Kathy!
Dinner and a Movie: Saturday, October 23, 6:00 PM. This month's movie night features, "The Keys of the Kingdom," starring Gregory Peck, Vincent Price, Roddy McDowall, and Rose Stradner. This 1944 flick, adapted from the 1941 book by AJ Cronin, is the story of a man who failed in all things except an understanding of his fellow man. It follows the career of an unconventional Scottish Roman Catholic priest, Fr. Francis Chisolm and his struggles to establish a mission in China. This role earned Peck his first Oscar nomination.
Fall Bazaar Update: The Bazaar is a few short weeks away and we are still in search of baskets, crafts, wine, and volunteers.
Basket Chance Raffle - We need gift baskets donated by parishioners to be raffled at the bazaar. The themes (example: Wine Basket, Sports Basket, Princess Basket, Halloween Basket, etc.) are entirely up to you! Or donate a gift card to your favorite Laurel store or restaurant to be incorporated in a “I Love Laurel” themed Basket. Chances are sold during the bazaar and drawn at a scheduled time. Questions: Chair Sharon Tredway, 301-490-6027,
sharitredway13302@gmail.com.
Craft Table- Do you have crafts that you made during the COVID-19 “Timeout” and can donate to help our bazaar be successful? We need items for our Church Crafts Table. (Those you donate leave more room at home to make something else)! Volunteers, new ideas, and donations are welcome. Questions: Chair Debra Rausch,
rauschda@gmail.com, or 301-498-8806.
Volunteers: We are looking for volunteers to help set up, clean up, and help out through the day. This is a fantastic opportunity for students in middle and/or high school, and Confirmation Prep who need community service hours. For more information please contact Donna Cellini, Bazaar Chairperson, at
donnac803@aol.com.
Mass Intentions: If you would like to offer a Mass for a deceased loved one, or to honor a living loved one, please email the parish at stnicholaschurch@verizon.net to see if the date you would like is available. A suggested donation of $10.00 - $15.00 per Mass is requested. Thank you!
