This is the 28th Sunday in Ordinary Time
Sunday's Gospel is the story of the rich young man who comes to Jesus and says he has kept all the commandments and asks what else he needs to do. Jesus looks at him, recognizes his goodness and holy desire and loves him. He then challenges him to let go of his many possessions, to stop identifying himself with what he owns in his life, to recognize his deepest self as a man loved by Jesus and his Father.
It's important to recognize and be grateful for all the ways in which our God has blessed us including the things and privileges He has given us to enjoy. This Gospel reminds and challenges us not to place our value on what we possess but on whom we love and who loves us. When we die, our things stay here. You never see a hearse pulling a U-Haul. When we die, our relationships continue into eternity. When we die, we are welcomed back home by our God who is Love.

Praise & Graze is BACK!
Praise and Graze events are held on Wednesday evenings for a series of 4-weeks. We gather at 6:00 PM in the parish hall for a short session of prayer and a hymn— “praise” followed by dinner— “graze” at 6:15 PM.
At 6:45 PM, participants are welcome to attend the faith formation session which, tis week is QHR's own Dr. David Smithson.
Meals are typically catered and guests can stay for as much (or as little) of the evening as they’d like. Children are welcome to attend, and childcare is provided during the “faith formation” portion of the evening. Please check the calendar for additional details on each evening’s specific schedule/event(s).
Registration is required for dinner. Donations can be made online or at the door. See the bulletin for details
Beginning in October, we offer an opportunity to come together in a small group to learn more about our faith. Sessions focus on the teachings and experience of the Church and prepare individuals to celebrate the Sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation, and Eucharist during the Easter season. You are welcome to participate in the RCIA process with your questions, insights, and faith. - The dinner auction committee fulfilled each teachers wish list by surprising them with their needs in the gym after school.
- A fantastic crowd shared the outdoor rosary on our parish feast day this past Thursday.
- Praise and Graze started again.
A bit of humor……
Three engineers and three accountants were traveling by train to a conference. At the station, the three accountants each bought tickets and watched as the three engineers bought only one ticket.
"How are three people going to travel on only one ticket?" asked an accountant.
"Watch and you'll see", answered an engineer.
"Watch and you'll see", answered an engineer.
They all boarded the train. The accountants took their respective seats, but the three engineers all crammed into a rest room and closed the door behind them. Shortly after the train departed, the conductor came around collecting tickets. He knocked on the restroom door and said, "Ticket, please".
The door opened just a crack and a single arm emerged with a ticket in hand.

The accountants saw this and agreed it was a quite clever idea. So, after the conference, the accountants decide to copy the engineers on the return trip and save some money (being clever with money, and all that). When they got to the station, they bought a single ticket for the return trip. To their astonishment, the engineers didn't buy a ticket at all.
"How are you going to ride without a ticket"? said one perplexed accountant.
"Watch and you'll see", answered an engineer.

When they boarded the train, the three accountants crammed into a restroom and the three engineers crammed into another one nearby. The train departed. Shortly afterward, one of the engineers left his restroom and walked over to the restroom where the accountants were hiding. He knocked on the door and said, "Ticket, please."
