Dear Parishioners,
October is “Respect Life Month” and you may notice items in the bulletin that correspond to that theme. I’d like to mention just one thing that we can do to promote a Culture of Life in the midst of our world today. At the end of 2020, the Massachusetts Government approved the ROE act, an Act to Remove Obstacles and Expand Abortion Access. This act, among other things, removed language in our State laws that ensured the protection of babies born alive during late-term abortions. It basically made it legal to kill a child that has survived an abortion and who is living and outside of the womb. It made it legal for a doctor or medical person to kill the child after having been born.
In the coming weeks some parishioners will be outside the church inviting fellow parishioners to sign a petition that would call for an amending of this Massachusetts state law. We hope it will pass and help to protect children born alive. The change in the law would state “The proposed law would require that, notwithstanding any other law to the contrary, if a child is born alive all reasonable steps in keeping with good medical practice shall be taken to preserve the life of the child born alive.”
I ask you to consider signing the petition, which I myself will do. I find it very upsetting and a sign of our times that we need to be signing petitions to protect infants who are born— from being killed by doctors and medical personnel.
If you would like to get involved in promoting a Culture of Life in our parishes, in a prayerful, respectful, and effective way, please contact me or the parish office. We have a group forming to do just that. I can always be reached at 978-774-1958 or 978-887-5505.
God Bless,
Father Dan
Thank you to everyone who has already signed the petition!
MASS OF REMEMBRANCE
On Saturday, November 6th, we will be celebrating a Mass of Remembrance for all who have passed away during the last year. All are invited to unite themselves in prayer by attending one or both Masses.
During the Mass we will place candles next to the Altar in remembrance of our loved ones, and these candles will then be used to light the vigil lamp next to the tabernacle in the parish rectory chapel. If anyone would like to make an offering of a candle in memory of a loved one, please let us know by calling the office or by email to info@agnesandrose.org, and we will arrange it using the appropriate kind of vigil candle. You are welcome to send in a donation for the candle if you wish.
Jesus said: “I am the Way, and the Truth, and the Life. Whoever believes in me will have eternal life, and I will raise them up on the last day.”
