HSCS HORNETS CHALLENGE
On Wednesday, October 28, 2021, Holy Sepulcher Catholic School will host its 10th Annual Hornets Challenge. Students will participate in the obstacle-a-thon to help raise funds for Holy Sepulcher Catholic School. Fundraising efforts, such as the Hornet's Challenge, allows Holy Sepulcher Catholic School to provide all students with an affordable, high-quality educational experience. Traditions such as the Seder Meal, Catholic Schools Week and field trips/assemblies are made possible through our fundraising efforts, as well as extracurricular experiences, like the Robotics Club and the school musical.

The new Pittsburgh Catholic magazine debuted last week. Eventually it will be mailed to a majority of our parishioners, but for this first issue, copies will be available in the vestibule of each church.
The Catholic Diocese of Pittsburgh is launching Pittsburgh Catholic magazine.is designed to inform and enrich the faith of Catholics in Allegheny, Beaver, Butler, Greene, Lawrence and Washington counties. The magazine is to be published every other month, and upcoming issues will be mailed free of charge to 120,000 parishioner households across the diocese. “I am pleased to offer this new instrument for evangelization and to build unity among local Catholics,” said Bishop David Zubik. “It will share stories of local Catholics who are living out their faith, as well as feature columns on spirituality, family life and other topics,”
SOUP-TO-GO: The Knights of Columbus at Saint Kilian Parish will be selling soup after Masses on October 16/17 at Saint Kilian Parish. Wedding and Chicken Noodle Soup will be available. The price is $7 per quart and the Proceeds benefit Knights of Columbus charities.

40 DAYS FOR LIFE is a campaign to draw attention to the evils of Abortion through Prayer, Fasting and Constant Vigil for 40 days. During these 40 days, Pro-Lifers will be standing outside the Planned Parenthood abortion center at 933 Liberty Ave., Pittsburgh., from 7am-7pm, praying to end legalized abortion in our country.
From past experience, we know that the no-show rate for abortion appointments is as high as 75% on days when we are praying outside the abortion facility. Our presence does make a difference!
Holy Sepulcher and St. Kilian parishioners are invited to participate in the Vigil on Friday, October 22nd, from 11am-3pm. We usually do 2 hour shifts:11-1 or 1-3; car-pooling can be arranged.

Do you have technical skills and a love for the Mass? If so, Saint Kilian Parish is looking for volunteers to assist with live streaming the 4 pm Mass on Saturday evenings. In the coming weeks remote controlled cameras will be installed in the Church and a dedicated livestream operation center will be set up. Familiarity with camera controllers and production switchers is a plus, but anyone with good technical skills and an understanding of the flow of Mass is an ideal candidate for this new ministry. THE CARING QUILT MINISTRY
Join us as we lovingly prepare and sew quilts on
Saturday, October 23rd, from 9:00 am – 3:00 pm at the Fellowship Hall in Mars. It is a wonderful group of eager, hardworking women willing to send messages of love and support through quilts to our parish and beyond. There is something for everyone to do. No talent needed.

TAIZÉ PRAYER SERVICE
You are invited to "a quiet reflective time of sung prayer".
Join us for 60-minutes of ecumenical, peaceful, and meditative music, prayer, and Scripture readings. You are welcome to quiet the challenges of your day, the concerns of your heart, and center your thoughts on God.
The Taizé Prayer Service will be held at Saint Kilian Church at 7:00 pm as follows:

INTERESTED IN BECOMING CATHOLIC?
For adults, the usual way to become a member of the Catholic Church is through the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA). The RCIA is a gradual process of education and formation for those unbaptized, baptized in another Christian denomination, or baptized Catholic but who have not received other sacraments or formation in the faith. The RCIA program helps adults to grow in their relationship with God. Sessions will be held on Tuesday evenings from 6:30 pm to 7:30 pm Meeting Room C in the lower level of

The Knights of Columbus are having the Fellowship Dinners on Wednesday evenings in the St. Kilian Fellowship Hall…. corner of Clark and Cherry Streets in Mars borough.
Doors open at 4:00. Dinner is served at 5:00.

Holy Sepulcher Elizabeth Ministry
The Elizabeth Ministry offers meals and gift baskets to new parents. We are in the need of donated items for baskets. Outfits 6-9 months boy and girl, booties, books and toys 6-9 months.
Any donated items can be placed in the HSC coat closet.
Magnificat Pittsburgh, a ministry to Catholic women, is hosting an in-person event on Saturday, October 23, 2021, from 9:30am – 11:00am at Saint Alexis Church in Wexford, 10090 Old Perry Highway, Wexford, PA 15090.
The event will include Adoration, praise, and worship. Mary Rutkoski from Gospa Missions and Abode for Children will be the featured speaker.
This event is free but please register by emailing magnificatpittsburgh@gmail.com to let us know that you will attend so that we may graciously welcome you.

On Saturday, October 23, St. Killian Parish presents “50’s Oldies Extravaganza” featuring Epics Doo Wop Pittsburgh! Frankie Day will emcee the show and the evening will be filled with music, dancing, food, and drinks. This is an adult event for 21 and older.
Tickets are $15.00 in advance and $20.00 at the door. All Proceeds benefit Saint Kilian Parish. You may register on our Holy Sepulcher/St. Kilian website for direct link to tickets.

Thank you to all who continue to support the Kilian Cupboard. The food bank supplies bags of food on a weekly basis to those in need. Currently, the Kilian Cupboard is in need of your help with food and pantry donations. Donations can be put in the cart inside Saint Kilian Church. At Holy Sepulcher, donations can be put into the bin located in the coat room. All non-perishable items are appreciated. At this time, there is a special need for the following items:

What is Divine Mercy?
Mercy is “loves second name” (St. John Paul II). The message of Divine Mercy is most associated with a Polish nun who died in 1938, Saint Maria Faustina Kowalska. Jesus appeared to her in prayer with His message of divine mercy for the world. God’s greatest desire is to forgive us, pouring out His infinite mercy upon us so that we may be healed. Whatever our sin, we may feel deep grief, guilt, anxiety, depression, broken relationships and a sense of alienation from God and the Church. In his infinite love for us, God desires nothing more than to forgive our sins and offer us His mercy.
St. Faustina’s Diary contains the messages she received which include the Divine Mercy Novena and the Chaplet. Jesus made several promises to those who recite the Chaplet: Whoever recites it will have great mercy at the hour of death… Even if there were a sinner most hardened, if he were to recite this chaplet only once he would receive grace from My infinite mercy(687);The souls that say this chaplet will be embraced by My mercy during their lifetime and especially at the hour of death(754); and Souls that make appeal to My mercy delight Me. To such souls I grant even more graces than they ask. I cannot punish even the greatest sinner if he makes appeal to My compassion(1146).

*NEW* Protecting God’s Children renewal
The diocese has implemented a renewal for all who have taken the “Protecting God’s Children” as part of the clearances process. In the past, this training was done as a live class on parish grounds. The renewal process will now be done as an online video class.
