HSCS HORNETS CHALLENGE
On Wednesday, October 28, 2021, Holy Sepulcher Catholic School will host its 10th Annual Hornets Challenge. Students will participate in the obstacle-a-thon to help raise funds for Holy Sepulcher Catholic School. Fundraising efforts, such as the Hornet's Challenge, allows Holy Sepulcher Catholic School to provide all students with an affordable, high-quality educational experience. Traditions such as the Seder Meal, Catholic Schools Week and field trips/assemblies are made possible through our fundraising efforts, as well as extracurricular experiences, like the Robotics Club and the art and music programs.

WOLRD MISSION SUNDAY
This weekend is WORLD MISSION SUNDAY. We celebrate this day by remembering our baptismal call—to bring the Gospel to all! Donations to the Society for the Propagation of the Faith supports the work and witness of the Mission Church, as it provides for priests, religious and lay leaders who offer the Lord’s mercy and concrete help to the most vulnerable communities in the Pope’s missions.

Collection for the Little Sisters of the Poor
The Little Sisters of the Poor are a Catholic religious order founded by Saint Jeanne Jugan. Their work among the elderly poor began in Pittsburgh 148 years ago. Since that time, they have depended on the support of people in parishes and others to continue their work. They operate a home for the aged on Benton Avenue in Pittsburgh. It is truly a “home” for those who are most in need. The Sisters will be with us at all Masses next weekend, October 30/31. Their custom is not to speak at the Masses but to simply be at the doors of the church when you leave.
Please be as generous as possible to them and their incredible work for the poor.

40 DAYS FOR LIFE is a campaign to draw attention to the evils of Abortion through Prayer, Fasting and Constant Vigil for 40 days. During these 40 days, Pro-Lifers will be standing outside the Planned Parenthood abortion center at 933 Liberty Ave., Pittsburgh., from 7am-7pm, praying to end legalized abortion in our country.
From past experience, we know that the no-show rate for abortion appointments is as high as 75% on days when we are praying outside the abortion facility. Our presence does make a difference!
Holy Sepulcher and Saint Kilian parishioners are invited to participate in the Vigil on Friday, October 22nd, from 11am-3pm. We usually do 2 hour shifts:11-1 or 1-3; car-pooling can be arranged.

THE CARING QUILT MINISTRY
Join us as we lovingly prepare and sew quilts on
Saturday, October 23rd, from 9:00 am – 3:00 pm at the Fellowship Hall in Mars. It is a wonderful group of eager, hardworking women willing to send messages of love and support through quilts to our parish and beyond. There is something for everyone to do. No talent needed.

Magnificat Pittsburgh, a ministry to Catholic women, is hosting an in-person event on Saturday, October 23, 2021, from 9:30am – 11:00am at Saint Alexis Church in Wexford, 10090 Old Perry Highway, Wexford, PA 15090.
The event will include Adoration, praise, and worship. Mary Rutkoski from Gospa Missions and Abode for Children will be the featured speaker.

HOLY SEPULCHER FAITH FORMATION
NO FAITH FORMATION SESSIONS on Sunday, Oct 31st for the Holy Sepulcher Sunday Morning Traditional Classes as we prepare to celebrate All Saints Day (November 1) and All Souls Day (November 2)
Classes resume on Sunday, November 7.
November Family Program meeting at Holy Sepulcher is on Sunday, November 7th from 11:30a-12:30pm in the Day Chapel. Children are always welcome to sit in with a parent.
JESSE TREE EXCHANGE
A Jesse Tree is one way to prepare during Advent by tracing the lineage of Jesus using simple scripture-based ornaments. We will be coordinating families willing to make simple ornaments (great for a family project) will be exchanged in early December to make a full set! TAIZÉ PRAYER SERVICE
You are invited to "a quiet reflective time of sung prayer".
Join us for 60-minutes of ecumenical, peaceful, and meditative music, prayer, and Scripture readings. You are welcome to quiet the challenges of your day, the concerns of your heart, and center your thoughts on God.

Life Teen Thursday Night – Hangouts

LADIES OF THE PARISH: Would you like a weekend away? With no meal planning, shopping, household chores or taxi service? Consider joining a wonderful group of women at our women's weekend retreat at St. Paul of the Cross Retreat Center on Pittsburgh's South Side.The comforting atmosphere, beautiful grounds with wonderful speakers and retreat staff will re-energize you and your faith.
Women from both Saint Kilian and Holy Sepulcher are welcome to join us on March 25-27, 2022. The retreat begins Friday evening and concludes after the celebration of the Mass on Sunday. Our retreat takes place during Lent and is a way to take time to step back from your hectic schedule and share time with the Lord.
The suggested donation is $250 for a private room, or $275 with a private room and private bathroom. Please don't let the cost prevent you from attending - we can help!

Thank You – Ladies of Charity!
A great big Thank You goes out to members of Holy Sepulcher’s Ladies of Charity group, who recently donated candy/snacks used in making treat bags for the residents at Colonial Gardens Guest House for Men. The bags were delivered on October 17th. Enough treats were received to include extras for the staff as well as the residents.They were extremely appreciative of our thoughts and actions at this very difficult time of isolation they are experiencing. Knights of Columbus, Council 10175. The annual Memorial Mass for deceased Knights of Columbus will be held at 8:00am, Sunday, November 7th at Holy Sepulcher. There will be reserved seating, so we can sit in a group.
After Mass, the Knights are welcome to attend a Breakfast Brunch at Servanti’s at 9:30am. There will be no cost for the breakfast. To make reservations for the breakfast, please call Robert Kearney at 724-777-7271 or email emmettbk41@zoominternet.net by October 30th.

The Patzun group will be selling Hoagies after all Masses at Holy Sepulcher on November 6th and 7th. Hoagies are $10.00 – several varieties available! All proceeds go to our Mission School in Patzun, Guatemala!

Thank you to all who continue to support the Kilian Cupboard. The food bank supplies bags of food on a weekly basis to those in need. Currently, the Kilian Cupboard is in need of your help with food and pantry donations. Donations can be put in the cart inside Saint Kilian Church. At Holy Sepulcher, donations can be put into the bin located in the coat room. All non-perishable items are appreciated.

What is Divine Mercy?
Mercy is “loves second name” (St. John Paul II). The message of Divine Mercy is most associated with a Polish nun who died in 1938, Saint Maria Faustina Kowalska. Jesus appeared to her in prayer with His message of divine mercy for the world. God’s greatest desire is to forgive us, pouring out His infinite mercy upon us so that we may be healed. Whatever our sin, we may feel deep grief, guilt, anxiety, depression, broken relationships and a sense of alienation from God and the Church. In his infinite love for us, God desires nothing more than to forgive our sins and offer us His mercy.
St. Faustina’s Diary contains the messages she received which include the Divine Mercy Novena and the Chaplet. Jesus made several promises to those who recite the Chaplet: Whoever recites it will have great mercy at the hour of death… Even if there were a sinner most hardened, if he were to recite this chaplet only once he would receive grace from My infinite mercy(687);The souls that say this chaplet will be embraced by My mercy during their lifetime and especially at the hour of death(754); and Souls that make appeal to My mercy delight Me. To such souls I grant even more graces than they ask. I cannot punish even the greatest sinner if he makes appeal to My compassion(1146).

*NEW* Protecting God’s Children renewal
The diocese has implemented a renewal for all who have taken the “Protecting God’s Children” as part of the clearances process. In the past, this training was done as a live class on parish grounds. The renewal process will now be done as an online video class. Instructions were sent out from the diocese; for help with this renewal please contact Jo Scheller at jscheller@holysepulcher.org or jscheller@saintkilian.org
