October 17, 2021 - Is Jesus Looking at You?
In the amazing encounter of JESUS with the RICH YOUNG MAN (Mark 10: 17-30), the word "Look" is mentioned three times. First, JESUS is LOOKING AT the young man. Then, HE LOOKS AROUND and talks to HIS disciples and finally, HE LOOKS AT THEM. QUESTION: Right now, as you are reading this column, IS JESUS LOOKING AT YOU? The answer is YES! JESUS IS GOD. And as God, He is present everywhere, He has all powers. He knows everything about each one of us: our past, present, and future. He can certainly look at us at all times.
I recall a retreat for priests given by Father George Ashenbrenner (Jesuit Spiritual Director) several years ago. He told us that every morning, as he wakes up he can hear Jesus say:

Weekly Eucharistic Adoration
We have an Adoration Chapel at OLHOC that provides a place for people to spend time with Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament.
The chapel is open Monday– Friday from 10 am– noon.
General Dispensation from the Obligation to Attend Mass has been lifted
COME BACK TO CHURCH
The dispensation of the Sunday and Holy Day obligation has been lifted. The reinstatement of the obligation to attend Mass at church began at the end of June. Please consult with Father Alain if you have questions regarding your obligation to attend Mass.
We implemented and have regularly adjusted a conservative COVID protocol for OLHOC constantly referencing guidance from CDC, MD state government, Charles County, and Archdiocese of Washington.*

Mass protocol
- Masks are required inside our church and building for everyone over the age of five. This applies if you are vaccinated or unvaccinated.
- Please maintain 3’ social distance between household families.
- Wash hands frequently and use sanitizer when coming to Church.
- Stay home if you feel ill or vulnerable to Covid transmission.
- Altar Servers please contact Deacon Bill if you are interested in serving.
- We will need 2 Lectors for each Mass, please contact Michelle Klein if you're interested or leave a message in the office.

Classes Have Started!
We are very grateful to have our children back in the classrooms. Please continue to pray for our students and catechist
Pre-k/Kindergarten, 1st, 2nd, 7th & 8th grades will be in class every Sunday (9:45-11:15 am) or Monday (6:45 pm - 8:10 pm).
Special needs classes are held Mondays (5:30pm -6:30pm)
RCIC classes will be every Monday from 7pm-8 pm
3rd, 4th, 5th & 6th grades will be blended/hybrid classes. Hybrid classes have the option of attending every other Sunday (9:30-11:15), or Monday (6:45-8:10 pm). Please check email for more details.

Looking ahead:Thanksgiving Baskets
Outreach will now be collecting boxed stuffing, mashed potatoes,cranberry sauce, turkey gravy, canned green beans, corn and yams for the Thanksgiving baskets. Your donations can be left in the designated boxes in the Narthex.
The Holiday House is now in the Narthex for those who wish to contribute to the Thanksgiving and Christmas baskets.

OLLC gives preschoolers a beginning in their Catholic education. Many families need financial assistance to attend our OLLC Early Learning Center. During the past difficult year many families suffered more abuse as unemployment increased, alcohol and drug use worsened and the world shrunk to the confines of the home. HELP KEEP OUR CHURCH CLEAN
Since last year, OLHOC cut back on many of the services we use to pay for. Due to financial restraints, the lawn maintenance is all done by volunteers, we no longer have a staff person to help out with the facilities, and we cut back on our cleaning services to once a week. Please do your part in helping to keep our church clean.
