Heartbeat Act Update
DOJ Seeking to Block Heartbeat Act - Another reason to continue to pray
It's been a roller coaster ride the last couple of weeks for the Texas Heartbeat Act, the law making abortion illegal in Texas after a fetal heartbeat is detected.
On Oct. 6, Robert Pitman, a federal district judge, blocked enforcement of the law arguing it is unconstitutional. On Oct. 8, the 5th Circuit Court of Appeals allowed enforcement to temporarily resume, again making abortions in Texas illegal after a heartbeat is detected.
The law continues to be challenged at the Federal level and the Justice Department told the 5th Circuit Court that it is unlikely to prevail in its defense of the law. The state has until today to respond to the DOJ appeal, then the 5th Circuit will issue a ruling on extending the stay on Pittman's suspension.
Your prayers and your visibility are greatly needed to support the Heartbeat Act. As we continue 40 Days for Life through the end of October, please show your support by praying at our vigil. See how to sign up in the article below.
