Agents of Sabotage
In watching an old episode of Franciscan University Presents, I was reminded of the above quote from C.S. Lewis. So I ask you: are you ready to surrender to our true king, Jesus Christ? If so, He's got a mission for you! That mission may include acts of sabotage to dismantle structures built on lies. The mission may include building bridges in order to rescue those caught up in lies.
For example, the dismantling of Roe vs. Wade looks very promising for next June. Several acts of sabotage are under way in the courts. The sabotage reveals the truth about human life and counters the lies of abortion.
Others are engaged in acts of sabotage by building bridges. Crisis pregnancy centers and pregnancy resource centers meet newly pregnant women where they're at and love them. They escort these woman across bridges to the truth that God loves them and their children.
When we recognize the fallenness in this world and that Jesus is the Savior, our own frustrations diminish. When we follow Jesus and get invited by Him to join His mission, it can be rather exciting.
Have you ever gone into a troubling situation, proclaimed the truth, and loved everyone present - with the result that the situation was resolved and everyone flourishing? If you can't think of an example, how about a crying baby? I remember times when I took care of my nephew and parents when all three of them were troubled. I'd come in, scoop up my nephew, and take him outside. He'd be mesmerized by the wind going through the trees. Everyone was happy. Those good experiences in helping crying babies can help us to trust the Lord when He sends us on other missions to proclaim the truth in love.
God love you,
Fr. Jim
