Holy Baptism is the basis of the whole Christian life, the gateway to life in the Spirit (vitae spiritualis ianua), and the door which gives access to the other sacraments. Through Baptism we are freed from sin and reborn as sons of God; we become members of Christ, are incorporated into the Church and made sharers in her mission: "Baptism is the sacrament of regeneration through water in the word." (CCC 1213)
We are happy to assist you in this important sacrament for your child. You may either stop by the office or you may go to our website to download the required forms (see below).
- Baptism Registration: This information is for us to create the baptism certificate and to record the baptism.
- Sponsor Certification Form: This form includes the requirements for the selection of a godparent or godparents (technically only one godparent is required). These are very important and must be adhered to. The Godparent Certification forms are to be filled out by the Catholic godparents and signed by the pastor or his representative where they are registered and should include the parish seal.
Once these documents are back to the office, we can secure a date for the baptism.
If this is your first child, you are required to complete a baptism preparation class. This preparation class is a DVD that can be borrowed from the church office, once the completed forms are received. By completing the baptism preparation at home, we feel parents can go at their own pace and reflect on any questions they may have for the celebrant.
If you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to contact Merideth Johnson, Parish Secretary.
