Hi there, everyone! Hope that you've had a great week! It looks like the fall weather is settling in, pretty soon we'll be getting ready for Christmas :). Here's our Flocknote for this week.
1) Anointing of the Sick: This Sunday, Oct. 24th, we'll celebrate the Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick at the 9:00 Mass. We are only doing the Anointing at the 9:00 Mass so that both Fr. Clyde & myself are able to be there to help. A reminder too that those who are facing serious illness or surgery, those suffering from chronic conditions, & our elderly can really be anointed at any time by either stopping up at the Parish Office, I recommend calling up to the Rectory first just to make sure someone is around or we can set up a time to come to you.
2) All Saints'/All Souls' Schedule: This year, because All Saints' Day falls on a Monday, it is not a Holy Day of Obligation. We will still have a Mass that day @ 6:30 am, but there is no obligation. The next day, November 2nd, is All Souls' Day. We will have our annual Mass of Remembrance for all who've passed away in the past year at 7 pm on Wednesday, November 3rd. Note that there won't be a morning Mass on that Wednesday.
3) Prayer to St. John Paul II: Today is the Memorial of St. John Paul II. Here is a prayer that I found to him:
Prayer to St. John Paul IIOh, St. John Paul, from the window of heaven, grant us your blessing! Bless the Church that you loved and served and guided, courageously leading her along the paths of the world in order to bring Jesus to everyone and everyone to Jesus. Bless the young, who were your great passion. Help them dream again, help them look up to the heavens again to find the light that illuminates the paths of life here on earth.
May you bless each and every family! You warned of Satan’s assault against this precious and indispensable divine spark that God lit on earth. St. John Paul, with your prayer, may you protect the family and every life that blossoms from the family.
Pray for the whole world, which is still marked by tensions, wars and injustice. You opposed war by invoking dialogue and planting the seeds of love: pray for us so that we may be tireless sowers of peace.
Oh St. John Paul, from heaven’s window, where we see you beside Mary, send God’s blessing down upon us all. Amen.
